Sorry i cant find the past thread on this:
(also posted to the birkin yahoo group):
Does anyone know the length-size-type ends of throttle cable used on the Birkin?
mine has the webers.
The cable seems to be sticking sometimes and i dont want to get caught with an open throttle at the wrong time.. i dont have the cable off yet but need to replace it.
i know someone (dave i believe) had suggested a bicycle shop has high quality cables but not sure what the best replacement size-type might be?
thanks...
Southwind25,
I use a cable that was purchased from a bicycle shop. I just went in and purchased a replacement cable for a front brake and then shortened the outer housing to the size I needed and hook it all up and it works great and is easy to replace if needed.
Here is a photo of the cable and its routing. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/762784310_DSCN1442.JPG

Looks good and makes it look stealthy to boot.

That is just nuts...the guy on the bike has some brass balls to say the least...

Know when to hold em, know when to fold em. I tend to operate under the "It's better to ask for forgiveness rather than ask for permission.", but not in this case.

Robert,
Have you checked the oil presure gauge for the correct presure reading. Might just be out of cal.

(Read-Wife said No, and said it far less politely)
Wifes can be that way.

In a Se7en, I thought MPG stood for Millions of Positive Grins?

My suggestion is either buy a Lotus 7 or a Caterham most of the others are close to worthless when second hand the Caterham and the Lotus hardly depreciate.
Terry
Ouch that is harsh.
I would agree that the Caterhams and a true Lotus 7 would seem to hold their value better only due to their history.
I also think that if one looks at the other manufactures Birkin, Westfield, Ultra's, etc. that are out their one will find they all have their strong points as they all have their weakness.
I personally have driven the following; Caterham's, Westfield's, a Birkin S3, a real Lotus 7 S2, Locost 7 and my own homebuilt replica 7 and if I had the money to purchase another 7 I would most likely get a Caterham SV, as I find it to be a bit more refined over what I have at the moment due to it having all of the weather gear and an interior of sorts and the manufactures history and quality of parts although the Birkin S3 would be nice also along with the Westfield.
Don't get me wrong I am very happy with my car and would have a hard time parting with it if I had too and have not considered it at all even when it has broken down on me.

Hi to all,
Thanks for all your suggestions.
I can say that I have checked and double checked every aspect (radiator, cylinder compression etc.) of what could be wrong before buying a new cyclinder head due to the cost and down time of my car.
Visual inspection of the center exhaust ports shows that the water jacket has cracked due to the porting job I did when I built the engine up 3 years ago. Sure had hoped that it had been a bag head gasket but I just don't have that kind of luck.

That is just amassing and the operator has way too much time on his hands but he is good......I wonder how many times it took to get it correct and not pinch the young pretty with that claw.

We do not intend in selling the car 60k, i still believe that somewhere around the 40-45K area is reasonable.
I think that you have a good product and that 40-45K is resonable for a new SR27 ready to drive away and should sell to the correct person once they see your product and the buyer realizes what they are getting for their money.
Stay after it and it will happen.

From the old Fiberglass Impalas of years back to this car. Talk about reading and reacting to the market and being a world leader with auto technology. Not easy for a long time Porsche owner to admit to.
:iagree: At 100.5 MPH by the little red readout it looked as if they were only going about 65MPH in the video but I know that speed is deceiving in those settings. One must remember that is a very controlled situation and I would be willing to bet that a ZR-1 that you purchase from your local dealer would not get to that speed without some major tweaking.

How long until the states figure out that this is a great way to generate much more revenue without the need to hide behind bridges with radar guns?
:iagree:But then what would you do with all of those radar guns and Officers who operate them...

TVG is European BUG CONTROL if you did not know.....HaHa.....just jokeing.....we need something like that here in the USA (the TVG) in my humble belief as it could and would be more effecient and cheaper than driving by car or flying for most people who travel in the USA.

Quote Deman USA : "After realizing that at 30K Shiva was buying this car at a 58% discount, we stoped to think that this is to big of a hit to take. We appoloize for what we put Shiva through, but i would like to clear up that we do not take peoples money. "
I would have stopped the deal also at that figure......but 62K+ is going to be a hard sell in todays market and the value of the dollar in the world market.

FYI, here is a pic of the sticker...with a quarter shown for size. It's intended as a "outside of the car" sticker, in white vinyl with black lettering in UV-resistant ink.

So I will take 4 and all I need to know is the price so I can send the money and an a self addressed envelope also to what address.
Now were to put them, one on the 7, one on the 914-6, one on the MG an mabe the car trailer.....
