  1. I'm going to start with a dry sumped 2.3 Duratec with Cosworth stage 1 cams. I'm undecided about the paint protection. I've only seen average results with all of the contours on the front end of our cars. Do you have any recommendations?

I'm leaning more toward a paint pen to fix any chips which may occur.

  2. Thanks, guys. Only the fun options were checked! Thanks also for the advice on the carbon. Does that apply for all of the carbon - mirrors, wind deflector, etc?

Both the front and rear wing are the unpainted carbon option.

  3. Here are a few of the options which I have gone with:

    • Black Pack

    • Aero Wishbones

    • ATL Kevlar Fuel Bag Tank

    • Carbon Fiber Seats w. Alcantara Trim

    • Stack Display

    • Lowered Floor

    • Race 4pt Harness

    • Track Day Roll Bar

    • Battery Master switch

    • Plumbed in Fire Extinguisher

    • Carbon Fiber (Unpainted) Rear Cycle Wings

    • Sadev Gearbox, AP Racing Sequential Clutch

    • AP Racing Brake Bias Valve

    Stay Tuned!

  4. Hi from San Diego! My name is Joe and I live in the Mission Hills part of town. It was great meeting Brad (Roll A Seven), Justin (sdcat) and Tom at the Qualcomm autocross this past weekend. I have a CSR Superlight on the way and hope to start the assembly in ~one month. The first pictures of the build came in today, from Dartford:

The base color is Aspen White and the stripes are Ice White, both shamelessly stolen from the Lotus color wheel. The design layout is a reflection of the Caterham Formula One livery.

  5. Has anyone here fitted a Sadev (or Quaife) in their CSR? I've been advised by Caterham that "there is likely to be some chassis modification required. The tunnel top also is designed for an H pattern box."

Can anyone elaborate on what I would have to do/modify to get a sequential to fit the CSR chassis?

What have people done to make the tunnel look best with just the forward/backward motion?

Thanks for any help. With a little luck, my CSR Superlight will be shipping from the UK in the next week.

    -Joe

  6. Has anyone had any communication with the SCCA regarding the Duratec engines?

Currently, it appears that the only option for the "Lotus / Caterham 7 America"

ZETEC and SVT ZETEC, which haven't been the current engine for several years now.

I'm also curious if there has been any communication regarding the CSR chassis. With the CSR it appears that I'll likely be limited to Time Trials. It would be nice to use the car in EP wheel to wheel racing.

    Cheers,

    Joe

The blue line is the un-ported head with stock exhaust valves.

The red line is the custom exhaust valves in ported head.

The orange line is the stock head with un-ported intake valve.

The yellow line is the custom intake valves in ported head

The red and yellow lines are measured over more lift areas because of the cams being used.

Lift is measured in increments of 0.050”

Test was done at 28 inches of vacuum

    Average airspeed is 345 ft/sec

  8. I've moved on from the MR2 world and am getting started with 7s. I planned to use this engine that I had built for my "2" but am going to go with something more plug and play. I'm limited on time and not as skilled at custom work as many of you.

The tune is still very conservative, even being the highest hp N/A MR2 gen 3 motor out there. It would also make a tremendous turbo engine as well if someone chose to simply swap in lower compression pistons. All work has been professionally done by Chris Katthage at Enginelogics, so you know it is top quality. All invoices have been retained.

I travel frequently for work, so please e-mail me if you have interest in discussing further.

There is flexibility in the price; depending on what components you are looking for/your personal build intentions. This is a great opportunity for a top quality drivetrain at a value price. Titanium rods alone have more than doubled in price since the Boeing 787 went into production! I will also give you the map from my MoTeC m400 to help you get started with your own ECU.

    $10,500 OBO

I'm also willing to entertain splitting the block and head if to bring the cost down but there will need to be buyers for both components lined up before a sale.

Interestingly enough, a Tom’s engine is advertised for sale at $16,990 with less power! http://www.tomsracing.co.jp/product...g.php?mprID=285

    Many thanks for your interest,

    Joe

Most of the ancillary parts that were refreshed in the rebuild along with complementary machine work are not listed, for space purposes. This is a lot of data to sort through, so please let me know if anything is obviously missing.
