Try Roger Kraus roger@rogerkrausracing.com, he had the ZZRs in stock a few months back.

Edit: Sorry didn't see you already did that.

Edit 2: I can sell my set of ZZRs if you don't mind buying used. I bought them October last year, used them for 1 day on track only so they are in good shape just not sticker.

    PM set...

  2. I have 13" Avon ZZR tires on my Caterham - 215-55-13 rear, and 185-55-13 front. All are A24 compound. I need new front tires before I can drive at all this season. Primary uses are track days and autocross. I am awaiting word from Roger Kraus Racing about two 185s that they are supposed to receive any day. However it's already 2 weeks beyond when they said they would be getting them, and when I search the web it looks like they are out of stock everywhere in the UK. So my questions are:

    1. Does anyone know anything about availability of these?

    2. Recommendations on other tires I could put on the front to use along with the ZZRs I have in the rear? Or would I really need to buy 4 new tires if I can't get the ZZRs?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I want to get driving!

  3. Yes re putting regular windscreen on for MA inspection. However I did pass inspection 2 years ago with the Brooklands on. All depends on the particular garage you go to. One garage told me "I think it's a motorcycle" and wouldn't inspect it. Really.

Anker I use these over my regular glasses. Fit great:

  4. .....In NE it's very hard to keep a car long term anyway without it rusting away. If daily becomes a disposable item, I'm okay with it.

I've always owned VWs. My 1971 Super Beetle was a rust bucket when I bought it, but other than that, I never had any rust. Ever. Any. Fox, Passat wagon, Passat sedan, Jetta Sportwagon, GTI. Kept our 1992 Passat wagon for 12 years - it lived outside for its whole life, never waxed it, hardly ever washed it, and it looked like new inside and out when we sold it.

  5. 2017 VW GTI Sport. All stock except for wheels and tires. Fun to drive, quick, handles well, roomy (by my standards), versatile, economical, reliable, ergonomic, nice interior, TARTAN CLOTH SEATS, well put together, and to my eye nice looking. Best car I've ever had. Did I mention that it has TARTAN CLOTH SEATS?

  6. I am preparing to buy new shocks and springs, and need to determine whether my front end is wide or narrow track. Simon at Meteor Motorsport sent me these pictures to identify which I have:

Here are pictures of my front end:

My measurements are right in between those for the narrow and wide that Simon sent. Simon thinks I have a narrow front end.

Is there a more definitive way to determine which I have?

  7. You have inspired me to add my boat to my signature.

Thanks all. Hope to glean some knowledge off the board for future...ahem...improvements, along with all the requisite tips and tricks. Still just giving the 7 the official heavy once over.

Had a great time in SC with Robert. Good conversation, food and drink and an overnight stay in a room by the ocean! There are lots of beautiful cars in his friend circle! I was privileged to see some personal collections of cars and bikes, some of the bikes (two and four stroke) being the same as my own. Many of the cars were downright amazing. I did get a copy of his book for the coffee table...signed of course! Yet to read it as i would much rather play in the garage to wee hours of the morning. Ride home was a ball!

While this is my first 7 the stable does include all sorts of other bits and bobbles... Suppose i should make a signature.

There is just too much cool stuff out there and not enough time, space, and money to get it all!!

Again, Thanks all for the warm welcome.

  8. Are you the red Westy with the Miata drivetrain I've met at Lars Anderson at a Cars and Coffee?

Mass isn't really that bad, although it a bit involved and some of the steps aren't very clear. I wrote up my experiences registering my Westfield a couple of years ago here.

Of course, there may have been some changes since then. I know the state changed contractors shortly after I went through. I expect the new guys have made some changes.

  9. Nope - my crush car is long gone. Sorry.

What year is it registered as in another state? And what is the engine? (Not sure if you want to answer these in public - fine if not).

Oh - and where in MA are you located?

  10. Just as another data point: I am a hair under 6', but skinny, so I fit fine in my S3 . I do sit in it and wonder how someone with more meat on their bones than me fits. My feet are size 9.5. I can drive with driving shoes, or will drive around town in boat shoes. Running shoes or boots are definitely a no-go.

  11. I'm very curious to hear the answer to this, as I have one snap missing on the side of my car, and I am wondering how much of the car I have to disassemble to install one stupid pop-rivet backup washer. Sometimes I think the original Lotus disassembly manual wasn't just for tax avoidance :banghead:.

Any links to videos of how to install a new never installed tonneau?

I tried YouTube to no avail. I’ve found and read the very confusing install instructions from Caterham with no help.

Any and all photos of tonneaus showing where the snaps on the car are located would be great and very helpful.

    thanks all.
