Great summary of your experience with the newest ZZR compound, Croc, thanks.
I am giving them a go at Pineview Run next week, which is to racetracks as par-3 pitch & putt courses are to golf. Somewhere between autocross and full road course (though they're expanding it this summer to include longer straights with commensurate higher speeds).
Will report back...

Two 185/55R13 and two 215/55R13, selling as full set. Brand new, fresh from Roger Kraus this May. Never mounted.
The set cost me $1,054 before cross-country shipping to the East Coast.
Make a reasonable offer!

My experience with 420 power in an SV chassis has been nothing short of fantastic.
It starts and runs reliably, but absolutely rips on the street, and has enough legs to push the 1950's aero (or lack thereof) through, even at higher velocities, on track.
I'd echo what others have said about the LHD 420; it's the ambient air temps/humidity/sun that make it uncomfortable sometimes, not the heat from the car.
Finally, I, too, take drives in shorts and flips/slides/sandals, and the SV pedal box is accommodating of that footwear.
Enjoy the search!

Very much looking forward to it!

I'm reposting some observations on the Tracsport diff in case someone is doing a "BMW/Titan" diff search.
Tracsport LSD is in!
Initial impressions are very good, but it must be noted that:
a) Steve Perks (the diff builder) recommended a few hundred miles before doing donuts (really), and
b) my old Titan LSD (actually not old... new in 2017/18 and only 20 or so track days on it) was not operating, so any LSD would feel like an improvement.
I was pleased with Steve's service, and look forward to putting many track miles on the new unit. It defintely feels more flickable and controlled when sliding;)

Didn't take pics. Too busy cursing.
A few hundred miles to break in, from what I understand.
-
Got it broken loose with a 4 ft jack handle extension over a breaker bar. Oy. Thanks for the responses, all!
Now the measuring must ensue, as the new diff/cage presents as a few mm narrower than the original.
I'll report on how the Tracsport diff feels after some use.
-
Thanks, Knifey Spoony! I will try a home made pusher/puller, as suggested in your attached link.
-
I'm removing the diff on my 2017 Duratec Caterham with the BMW diff/cage in order to install a new one (with a Tracsport LSD inside).
All went smoothly, but the top long bolt won't come out. The nut came right off, but the bolt only twists a few degrees, as if it's attached/seized to the rubber bushing. I've hammered on it, I've put an impact wrench on it, I've put PB-Blaster on it; it won't move or rotate (more than a few degrees).
The interwebs have suggestions for installation, but removal doesn't seem to give people issues.
I've put pressure from underneath with a floor jack, too. I can still see the copper slip used when installing it...Any suggestions?
-
Thanks a million for that write-up! I do recall from the original build, that the washers/spacers were more of a PITA than the actual installation of the diff!
-
Nice work! I haven't yet motivated to install the new Tracsport diff... and I imagine it'll be more involved than the original install, when I hadn't yet built out the rest of the rear end of the car. What did you need to remove, and what was able to stay in place, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm told that Pineview would be quite fun in a Se7en.

I am happy to report that a set of the ZZR 333 compound are on their way. Will update with feedback later in the summer;)
-
Thanks for spearheading this, Dez.
I have come to really love New York Safety Track (near Oneonta, NY) in the Se7en, and plan to go on Monday, June 19th with the "Dog House Track Days" group. Would love to see other Se7ens there, too!

I've ordered a Tracsport LSD from Steve Perks and will aim to report on it this spring.
Happy Holidays, New Year, etc to all my fellow Se7en drivers!

Has anyone here tried the new 333 soft compound ZZR? I very much enjoy the A24, and thought it MIGHT be worth trying.

My daily 2003 Volvo Xc70. Has been in the shop for about 2 years now being very passively swapped to a 6spd and R motor. Just waiting on finishes touches now.
Car is perfect because it was cheap, unassuming and just luxurious enough to keep me happy with basic features like heated seats and leather and auto wipers etc. I use it as my truck as it's a wagon for the trips to home Depot and it's keeping me from needing to buy a truck. Tow with it as needed.
Potentially planning to tow the enclosed trailer with the Caterham in it. In theory it should work. In practice? We shall see. It can tow in stock form upto 3300. Aluminum trailer and Cat should be under that and I have R brakes on it now and R motor and 6spd should give more threshold.
It's got well over 200k miles on it and will get plenty more once swap is done as everything is replaced during the swap.
Even if it can't do the trailer we will likely have a family SUV soon enough that will do the job
Ah, the P2 V70R! We had an '05 6MT until 165k miles, when its slave cylinder gave up, for the 2nd time, which is inside the bellhousing of an AWD car, so quite time consuming to replace. And we sold it.
I used to tow my Husqvarna supermoto behind it! Brought both kids home in it from the hospital when they were born. Even had a "prancing moose" fender badge.
Good times.

Thanks for that info, Dave. Much appreciated.
I tried Steve at: tracsport@hotmail.co.uk
Was that the email address you successfully used to reach him?

Hi BlakeJ, yes i emailed Steve as well. The Tracsport sounds like a good way to go.
I have also asked this company about their diff centres as well. https://www.difflab.com.au/pages/os-giken-superlock-technology
Apparently the diff in my car is a BMW 168 but there are several versions thereof.
Drakman, have you been able to reach Steve? I've not heard back. Perhaps I've got the wrong email address?
Thanks for any info.

I have just emailed SPC Tracsport to inquire about their LSD options for stateside customers.

@BlakeJany thoughts on pushing it even further? I originally was trying to decide between the 620 and 420... And now I'm deciding between the 360 and the 420... What a rollercoaster.
From what I hear, and I am certainly no authority on the matter, taking the stock Duratec much further than about 220hp requires major work and potential reliability concerns. But it's been done well and documented plenty (R500 spec). Proceed with caution, patience, guidance from a well-known Duratec engine builder, and the willingness to spend time and money on fine tuning/unforeseen issues.

Would you upgrade further? I've heard of what Josh from Rocky Mountain calls a "440"... Or even more?
I also did the roller barrel throttle bodies while I was at it. Fantastic! Some call it "420+" spec, which is what I think Josh is referring to. He got me the correct ECU map and it's great.
I am plenty satisfied for now;)
Exhaust measurements

On my SV Duratec, it looks like from the top of the chassis rail (including the skin) to the exhaust opening is 7 1/8" and the horizontal gap from the rear portion of the A-arm cutout is 13 9/16".
