yeah, but a BDR is so cool!

I went ahead and ordered 50 square feet of B-Quiet Ultimate ( http://www.b-quiet.com/ultimate.html ). I know I will pay a small weight penalty, but its all in an attempt to quiet her down a bit

Tonight I pulled the seats and the carpets in preparation for the sound deadening. There really isn't much to these cars is there (Steel tube + ali sheet + rivets = car...LMAO)

As an added comfort feature I'm going to swap the passenger and driver seats. The driver seat canvas seat bottom is broken. No wonder it felt like I was sitting on the floor...I was! Fixing the seat can be another winter project

I have a kent xflow mount for the exhaust side only from an 89' caterham. $30 plus shipping

I have a Stack Clubman tach with a shift light on my dash. The two integrate very well. I'm not sure of the cost of a stack clubman as it came with my car

Hi Michael,

A larger diameter Silencer will help with your noise issue, the greater the area of the silencer the more it will reduce the dBA.

We manufacture a Repack Silencer which is 6” Diameter (please see attached sketch for common dimensions), I have also attached a few images to show some of our previous work.

I think that the sound is normal. With the side curtains and/or roof up, you get to listen to the diff and tranny. I think the diff is the larger culprit. Its got very large ring and pinion and bearings spinning right underneath a flimsy plywood panel right behind your ears. I also think the flat rear seat back panel makes a good resonator

I hear you (although it appears less so every day ;

I'm thinking of putting a dynamat type product behind the seats, in the truck, on the tranmission tunnet, under the carpets and on the firewall.

I need to lower the highway noise. Even with earplugs and ear defenders, the harmonic noise is very high.

I'm hoping to mask some of the tranmission, propshaft and diff noises.

Any one attemp this?

I ended up using a dremel metal cutting wheel and a flexible extension. It was tricky as I was cutting around the headers while they were in place.

Seems like the only time I get to go for a long drive these days is at night due to kids and other family obligations.

I head west from the city on the freeway and then head north to the country and back-track to home along country roads.

Its fun getting lost at night. I always keep my blackberry GPS with me so I can go; "find current location" and get my bearings.

It is both unnerving and exciting to drive with just the light from my headlights showing me whats coming up next, over that next hill or around that next bend. For example, I was on a twisty road, that turned to gravel and then started to head up hill. Then a sign said; "rough road". It basically became almost a goat trail where I was downshifting and skipping and sliding on a single track trail until I popped up and out from the escarpment back onto tarmac. LMAO.

Most people would think I'm weird, but I find time alone in my car at night very therapeutic.

I've finally got my car running right and with a good comfort set up for high speed on cool nights (half doors on, wind deflectors, hood on with back window unzipped and rolled up)

I came across this on Sunday at an air-show.

Its a part scale P-51 mustang. The kit is $50,000. Then you add a Honda V6 for another $8,000 and you are ready to fly.
