I bought a set of Penske one way shocks off Meteor for my ex-maroon Caterham. Simon had valved them specially for it, allowing for the zetec engine weight being slightly different than the usual Duratec, CRossflow and Rover K series engined cars. Once I had dialed them in the handling was much better than when the 12 year old Bilsteins were on it. Slightly firmer ride on road but a better handling response. Lovely looking shocks too!

Somehow I think people missed the significance of Bruce's post. Big congratulations are due to Bruce and Beachman Racing here. For so long US owners have had to wait for parts to ship from the UK or order directly and pay a big international delivery fee for the privilege of getting things in a week. Or like I have done which is maintain a personal inventory of parts to guard against Caterham UK being out of stock. This is a big step forward to have a Caterham dealer to invest heavily in parts and run an online store here in the USA for owners. US owners have been wanting this for years. I once had a 1 car garage into which I fitted two Caterhams and one 1965 Mustang. I used those rolling jacks under the wheels to move the Caterhams into their optimum position. But I also put 9 sevens and 1 Mustang and 1 Holden into my current garage and still had enough room to fit 2 more sevens had they been needing it.

Coming back to this chart. First observation - What happened in 2014/5 for new deliveries. Was that the Formula 1 distraction period? Second observation - note how continuous registrations is steadily declining over the long term? Yet average new registrations is roughly consistent over the period. So where are the cars disappearing to?

So I was in Wales to admire the sheep and terrible weather last weekend and I stopped in at Meteor Motorsports to pick up some go faster goodies for the upcoming driving season to stay ahead of Seb and Simon. Meteor Motorsports is a Caterham performance specialist based in Court Henry, Wales, about 45 minutes drive north of Swansea. It is literally surrounded by fields of green and sheep. Simon Rogers is a keen Caterham enthusiast and very successful competitor. He is an 8 time class winner of Lotus 7 Club of UK Speed Championships. He is a 2 time winner of the Lotus 7 Club Championship. He holds over 10 class lap/hillclimb records in his Caterham. So he knows how to drive and knows what works for a fast seven (not just Caterhams). Why is he so fast? Well clearly, from my personal experience, the weather is so bad that you can only stay inside and work on your car. But anyway: Simon's Caterham is a Hayabusa bike-engined car. Runs the sequential gearbox from the bike. He uses it as a test bed for the products he says. His specialty is shock absorbers/dampers/springs for Caterhams. Our cars are so light (excluding Stalkers) that standard production shocks will not work without being custom valved to account for weight. I was surprised to hear that Simon has a reasonably sized US client base of seven car owners who he supplies shock absorbers to. Not just Miatas, look at M3s or Porker 911s. Even Caterhams are all over the shop. You will struggle to sell good condition crossflow S3s for low 20s on this forum yet on BaT they get to almost $30k.
