  2. Thank you for clarifying. Initially I thought you were meaning the digital display was under the scuttle with the controller which is a pain to remove and access (is drill out rivets, etc). but I understand your thinking now. For me, have not started anything yet.
  3. Hi Hanns Per - How exactly are you proposing to install the control panel display? You say the controller is under the scuttle? If so how will you make changes for the 6 presets? I think I misunderstand? Thanks mike
  4. Christmas present came a little late for George! Enjoy!
  5. George Here are the pages from Tennessee DMV website Getting a title https://www.tn.gov/revenue/title-and-registration/vehicle-titling---registration/vehicle-titling/titling-a-vehicle--current-residents-.html Seems fairly simple - nothing there that would present a challenge. However, if you read the section on rebuilt titles, it only talks about in state conversions of salvage to rebuilt title after you have performed work to rebuild it. So it asks for parts receipts which is not relevant for you. https://www.tn.gov/revenue/title-and-registration/additional-information/salvage--non-repairable-and-rebuilt-vehicles.html and here https://www.tn.gov/revenue/tax-fraud/salvage-certificates-and-rebuilt-vehicles.html A little more reading reveals that assembled or specially constructed vehicles (aka kit cars) are handled at a county level https://tnclerks.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000359483-Rebuilt-Vehicle Only salvage to rebuilt title conversions are handled at a state level. The county instructions are pretty clear in the above link. Your position to assert on titling is that the Caterham is a 1973 Lotus Seven Series 3 Replica , so it fits the custom/specially constructed car (i.e. it came from a kit). You will likely have to go through an inspection but thats normal for these cars in most states. Emissions testing requirements will be county based. I would go to the effort of contacting Caterham UK to get an replacement MSO (Manufacturer's Statement of Origin) as proof of kit car/replica origins. Explain that your State needs it to register the Caterham. You will have to provide VIN/car details. It may be with the car's documentation but its usually surrendered on original title application. I think it will be very helpful to improve the car's current title position as you transfer into TN. Your goal should be to walk out with a TN title of a "1973 Lotus 7 Series 3 Replica" which is how the SEMA process should work in TN. SEMA has a wealth of information on titling custom/replica/hot rod vehicles by state. Here is TN https://www.semasan.com/semaga/TagTitleToolbox_TN.pdf While I have not ever had to do this in person as I have never lived in TN, the process looks fairly manageable and straightforward since TN follows the SEMA model. Actually, on paper, TN looks quite a friendly state to work with on sevens. It could be so much worse. Other links of interest I found that you may find useful as background reading http://dfkitcar.com/forum/index.php?threads/tennessee-legislation.175/ https://www.sema.org/sema-enews/2008/05/pro-hobbyist-custom-vehiclekit-carreplica-legislation-reintroduced-tennessee http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=13077 Cheers mike
  6. Oh no, you don't need 8-15000 sqft villa. I make do with 1500 sqft on my ground floor level and one night we managed to squeeze in 12 sevens and a 1965 Mustang. :troll: And with my fridge capacity upstairs and downstairs for beer, wine, mixers for spirits, coca cola, more beer, sprite, cherry coke, orange tangerine coke, cream soda, more wine, bitter lemon, mountain dew, and some unhealthly ladies drink called water, neither myself or any of my guests ever lack hydration. I have always been amazed how psychologists can solve everyone else's problems but not their own... :seeya:
  7. Its not even a great track to drive. It was solely designed to maximize real estate frontage on the race track for visual appeal. Pity they ignored driver enjoyment.
  8. Yes and when the USA7s crowd turn up then gardening is always a popular activity! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Not this one. I will be heading to Spa-Francorchamps on March 23/24 with my Caterham. I prefer Spa over Nurburgring (the Ring) - I am done driving Nurburgring unless it is a dedicated track day with limited numbers - its too risky otherwise. Would happily go back to Nurburg GP circuit - I like that one. I have rented through RSR Nurburg before for Nurburgring. Great outfit. A few friends, including Rahul on this forum, rented through RSR Spa for the two Spa-Francorchamps days last year. Their track days are very high end. Expensive machinery. Very good driving standard. Not very crowded. Full hospitality.
  10. Its different. The upfront cost is $16-17k these days - may even be more as I have not checked it in a while. But the trick is to buy in at year end when they have specials to boost members - you can get 40%+ off then if you time it right. Annual dues are $2600. But then members pay $195 per day to access the track via the assigned dates - about 47 days a year. I dont think you pay per day at Palm Beach. Arguably NJMP is better too - two full sized separate tracks, go kart facility, pool, clubhouse/bar/restaurant, more facilities, etc. Same limitation on guests exists at NJMP too.
  11. Its been done before. Lotus Type 51R The story behind it is here https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/17254/lot/360/ Recognize the front wings? Lotus 7 S2 and S3 clams. Recognize the rear wings? Lotus 7 S1.
  12. Yes....it will be red....going by how Seb is color coordinated thus far... :jester:
  13. That Diva was not on last weeks list but it’s been on and off sale ads for the last two years struggling to sell. Not sure it’s a seven? Sized more like a heifer or stalker?
  14. Seb is more of a pleather or polyester type of guy. Not sure fur would suit him? Whatever it is, it must be red to color coordinate the full ensemble outfit he is fastidious about.
  15. As Mike noted, it may be cheaper to have your cage made here. Tom and Jeff got nice ones for their cars made locally in the Philly area. Custom paint treatments were included - you could have it in red! I would not recommend air shipping like someone with an orange car once did.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Sorry my memory is not that good these days so can you jog it by reminding us please: 1) What brand seven do you have? 2) What transmission do you have? If it is a Caterham 6 speed then I think I know the answer...
  17. I have 3 right hand drive cars - 2 of them in the US. No problem to me. But some people don’t like them and that’s their choice.
  18. For that CT classic seven: SDKRDFA17P0005898 SDK = Caterham R = RHD D = DeDion F = Fully built (by Factory) A = Alternative (chassis type) 17 = 1700cc Super Sprint (Crossflow) P = 1993 0005898 = chassis number So that looks all in order. It is a UK build and registered - old UK plate can be seen in one photo. As it is 1993 then it can only have been in the USA 2 or so years. Any purchaser will make to make sure it comes with all its import paperwork in case a future state titling exercise needs it. Spec is nicely loaded, really nice cosmetics in the photos, looks suspiciously clean around the engine bay - these engines leak happily. All positive so far. The biggest thing with that car was identified by Kitcat. What happened underneath with the chassis powder coating? The rest of the car looks pristine and then hiding underneath is all that mess. Its likely superficial as it is now but you need to look hard because if it is in the tube inner then game over - walk away. Looks like salted road damage over a few seasons? It needs a good scrub back with a wire brush, get rid of the flaky powder coat everywhere and then a protective satin black coat of some suitable tough paint product. Not a difficult or time consuming job but one you don't normally see having to occur. Worst bit of the fix is putting the protective paper/plastic up to prevent overspray. The dealer should have done this to get the sale prepared. That said, kudos to the seller for not hiding it either - deserves a thumbs up for that. Value? I will probably get yet another nasty-gram from yet another dealer with this post. Using the data from past sales on this website then RHD is normally a downward adjustment ($2-5K) from the regular LHD market equivalent. They are harder to sell. At $32K this is higher end for a pristine LHD car with all the goodies. This one for sale is RHD and has some chassis damage remediation work (say $1.5-2K for a 3rd party to do?) to be performed in the short term. Inpsection will adjust value further I suspect as photo may not be complete. If you are serious about this one George then I would make sure you get someone familiar with these cars to go and inspect with you.
  19. I like sparkly things. He...she...err....it was being such a bitch to the flight attendants - wonderful to see. No G spots involved I can assure you. It was all good wholesome entertainment.
  20. errrr....noooooo....maybe that your driving style leads to a lot of shit being laid down by other drivers. :jester: In true USA7s fashion, whose thread have we hijacked this time?
  21. Yes my travel is a bit nutty. In the 4 week period ending on Dec 23 it will be: NYC -> Singapore -> London -> NYC -> London -> NYC -> Phoenix -> Seattle -> NYC -> London -> Frankfurt -> Singapore -> Sydney and then thats it with planes until January 2. I think thats about 60,000 miles in one month? Its the difficulty getting more than 4 hours straight asleep at any given time. On the plus side, I sat next to a Liberace impersonator in full flamboyance on the flight to Seattle yesterday!
  22. Look at the Caterham in Unit 6. Nice looking garage at M1 Concourse. I like the fly through model application. https://m1concourse.com/private-garages/
  23. Thought I would update this since I am awake at 3am with jet lag and I am on a plane all day again Sunday. Not as many ads this time of the year as sellers disappear for the Holidays. 24. Ahhhhhh...the Ford Corrosion Protection Program. I know it well....on a 289 V8! Are those hoses rated for oil? Not sure what these hoses are for - head to block? Are they breathers? ONce purpose is known, then I would consider changing hoses if they have gone oil permeable from age and make them braided stainless outside/oil rated rubber inside with AN end fittings for extra leak protection. That should allow you some level of precision of achieving clearance. Definitely make a change in the oil pan gasket. Is the oil tank for the dry sump? My concern for using a valve like that is what happens on start up after sitting a while? Is there sufficient lubrication around the engine to avoid critical wear in start up phase as the oil may not be located where it is really needed.
