Vovchandr - If you go the half hood approach then you should also get a mesh screen that velcros over the roll cage and runs vertically down to where the belts mount onto the chassis rail. Why? Caterham are not a recognized US manufacturer of cars - they import kits and rollers. I had the Holman Moody Mustang accepted to run this year but as I was travelling I had to withdraw. I have a tacit agreement to run in 2019 if I can get my calendar to coincide on dates. The course only troubles me if it is overdriven. Todd was being measured in his driving by leaving a margin of safety - you could see it in the video - but was close enough to make it exciting. Treat it as a display drive event and it will be fine. Treat it as all out time trial then trouble will occur. Anti-clockwise tracks are not an issue. I have run many, they are just not that common on the US East Coast. I can see many reasons for concern: - turn 1 exit barriers get awfully tight. - drainage ditches right next to armco - bridge abutments look like a partial offset crash waiting to happen. - strange layout - very tight in the first third then wide open in the second two thirds. I guess layout was dictated by land layout? PCA are notorious for crashing. Their accident record is atrocious. So understandably they would be concerned and reach the obvious logical conclusion.

Not entirely answering your question but another datapoint, every sigma-engined Caterham I have driven on track in the UK has always had the water temp needle sitting in the middle of the gauge and not well up the top half of the gauge like you are experiencing. However, what I did not note at the time was the scale of the gauge which is what would assist you right now - sorry. I tried to decipher the gauge using my most recent video (310 = 150hp Sigma) but the quality of image and the current bumpiness of Silverstone thanks to its new poor resurfacing have stopped me from reading the scale.

No its fine. It just rattles internally. If that bothers you then you can open up the can and either remove or fix the baffle. You will find the sound absorbing packing will have disappeared over time so it will be a good opportunity to refill that anyway. Replacement would be warranted with corrosion or other visual damage that makes it unsightly.

Show us a photo of your engine bay pedal box to firewall/scuttle. My engine oil catch tank is in this area and in its early days it would leak like this. Assuming that is not the location of your catch tank then I question if it is engine oil or something else? If it is engine oil then do you have a mechanical oil pressure gauge which has the capillary tube full of oil leaking? If not engine oil then is it clutch fluid leaking? Its easy enough to pull the top of the pedal box off (4 screws) and check.

Oh I knew alright. I have Mike W's photos of TJ having a moment there. Then again I have a distinct recollection of doing some offroading myself in the Cossie with your son riding passenger...oops. The steering was binding a little bit under throttle. A 1965 Mustang with the period suspension modifications - front and rear - handles very well for a 1960s era car. It does not handle well compared to anything else today. But thats why I like it. It forces me to drive around the car and adjust my driving habits. On this very hot day it had marginal grip. So it was producing understeer into some corners. To deal with this I would provoke oversteer about a third of the way through the corner and then throttle steer the rest. The problem with this is that the rear end is also marginal for grip. So there is a lot of lateral slip from a lack of mechanical grip. As a result I would get very very wide in the corners and this can be really seen at turn 5 (over the top of the crest right hander) and the bowl. The bowl is further complicated in that a live axle rear end just hates a 15 degree banking and the inner wheel slipping. I was trying too hard and I simply slid the rear end wide in the bowl and dropped the rear wheel into the dirt. No amount of mashing the throttle could stop the weight transfer swing on the rear end and around she went...ever so slooooowly and then it was a simple matter of jumping on the brakes to head back rather than stay on track in front of Kitcat. I was laughing and Shane was laughing but Kitcat headed straight to the pits for new underwear.
