Hi Jim, Yes I have a SBFS half hood for the CSR and I previously had one on my earlier yellow SV. Definitely helps with wind control. Works better with the modified perspex wind wings. I liked it for around the streets. No sun on me but felt open and airy. I learned my second time around and got the easy in option. Makes a big difference. Do you want me to put the windscreen on/half hood on and let you try it out to see if you like it? Cheers mike

Its sevenesque. It looks better than a Lotus S4 but would likely be slower with a dak dak engine compared with the twin cam in the Lotus. And with VW/Porsche suspension technology, I also believe it would handle worse than a Lotus 7 S4. But its $6 grand and has clams!!!!! http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=11803&stc=1 http://www.dailyturismo.com/2016/10/caterwagen-2001-volkswagen-dune-buggy.html http://www.premium-motors.com/view_vehicle.html?vehicle_id=1159 -
Sounds like 10 times more detailed than the Caterham build manual?

Hi Mike Its the same Caterham I have been using for years over in UK and Europe for Silverstone, Spa Francorchamps, Dijon, Magny Cours, Angelsey, Donington, Brands Hatch, etc. or Duratec 180hp with the 6 speed so yes roughly the same as the SVT Zetec. Max revs at 6800rpm which limits me to around 115-188mph - I have to lift off in 6th frequently to keep it under the limit. Its on its 5th engine I think. No windscreen or headlights. I quite happily run on less power than my CSR - you have seen me get out in my maroon standard zetec with 135hp and have fun. There is a huge contrast between my CSR and a R300 and its not all negative on the R300 since it is lighter, more agile and more interactive because of the de dion. More power is not always a better thing despite what many people on this forum would think. You have to drive the two sevens back to back to see what I mean. Apart from having fun, my objective on these days is to get within 4% of the R300 fastest qualifying lap/lap record on that circuit by the end of the first day. I always manage to achieve it, apart from Spa where I needed another hour the next morning to work up some courage to not lift on eau rouge. Cheers mike -

Well I had a bummer of a weekend after my two days on track were washed out. The drinks in the evening were some consolation. Ex- Dennis Brunton Super Storker for sale by Gator Motorsport at $36830. Hi Mike - I had heard of the Gator Motorsport as I think they were the guys selling that insane 300hp S1 but I know nothing about them beyond that. I do expect that Stalker is a very well set up car as it would carry the best of everything. Would not mind studying that car in person. -

Bob - I expect you to improve on your third place from last year! First will be acceptable this year. :jester: Have a great time at the event! -
How come my buddies in PA area did not tell me about this great event? I wish I knew it was on and I would have headed out to watch. Unfortunately my oldest race car is 1965 so cannot participate in this although I could throw in an entry for shits and giggles for them to reject next year. I hope this town and the participants realize how precious an event like this is. So many health and safety muppets would be freaking out and every attorney dribbling in anticipation given the street set up. But I just love it.

VRG Historics race at NJMP Lightning this past weekend
Croc replied to d15b7's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Line will vary during a race depending on who is in front and where you sacrifice a corner to position the car just right for a move. School lines are predictable because you will not be passing in a corner. BTW, camera position will enhance speed effect compared with say top of the roll bar. I was more impressed with turn 1 for speed carry and quite intrigued by entry into the bowl. I think Todd avoids the entry bumps with a narrow entry but does it scrub off too much speed? I guess not but I want to experiment with the various compromises myself. That happens next week with something other than a seven. -

And that is an awful lot of private bidding in the first 2 days of a listing. But eventually all sellers have to meet a market - it just may take some time! :lurk: I did like the bid of $131k that got retracted! Its so hard to enter so many different bids so quickly! :jester: -

Nice result Todd! I watched the race from around various parts of the circuit before leaving to make the long drive home. You looked like you were having fun. The other drivers were working hard. Lou is passionate about his McKee - really nice guy. I think he is late 70s now and he said it is the only thing that keeps him young - 500hp in a 1200 pound car will do that to you! Just think - once I get a new engine for the CSL I still could not keep up with you in that vintage race class! :ack::rofl: -

The timing cover will work to collect the sound because it is not solid. Unfortunately the rattle may not be in the same place as the sound - its just easiest to hear it on the timing cover. My logic tells me that the rattle is internal from an oiled part given the noise increases as engine warms (and oil thins with heat). However, to rule everything else out - are all ancillaries (alt, water pump) tightly mounted and not rattling as loose? Engine mounts all good? Dry sump mechanism (if applicable)? Any sense of it being higher or lower in the engine - head or block?
