  1. Yes, Shane is hoping to attend next year so we will need a spare for the Evil Knievel of the seven world when he launches himself off something. :jester: Or when MichaelD breaks his something like 13th gearbox/clutch in 5 years It did not blow a seal (arf arf) but it certainly eff'ed around with my Roomba. Poor little thing was covered in oil and bleeping error tones. It won't go near the yellow car now. :ack:
  2. I have seen a few new SV now where the 4 into 1 is inside the engine bay along with the catalytic converter. You can just see the cat in the edge of the opening on the 485. Why some are that way and not others is not clear to me. Here is a photo - at top you can see the 4 exit and then downhill to the cat converter http://s3.amazonaws.com/photos.ecarlist.com/Qh/Iz/V1/hX/w0/2Q/5a/oY/nP/FE/BQ_800.jpg What I don't understand is the pricing? Its so cheap compared to what the west coast distributor quote. I guess it is a consignment fire sale of some dealer's remaining stock.
  3. But Panamericano, if Tom C from Birkin USA can drive all the way from Eagle CO then I am sure you could drive up and say howdy to us! ;-p I am packing the home for a move next week and have been at it since 4am. Geez it sucks. So I thought I would come on here for a break and be pithy! So Marshall Goldman, the well known Ferrari dealer in Cleveland Ohio has a bunch of virtually new Caterhams for sale. Are they a dealer or did a dealer go under and this is a consignment sale? Entertainingly, I found them by looking under Triumph! The last one is listed under Ferrari. The models range from a 270 S3 to a 485 SV. Prices are all fixed buy it now ranging from $47800 to $57500 Mileage is sub 100 miles. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Triumph-Other-270-SV-/391501994036?forcerrptr=true&hash=item5b27565834:g:NgIAAOSwvg9XfqIk&item=391501994036 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Triumph-Other-485-SV-/391501997643?forcerrptr=true&hash=item5b2756664b:g:AqYAAOSwhOVXfqQl&item=391501997643 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Triumph-Other-360-/391502007098?forcerrptr=true&hash=item5b27568b3a:g:9QQAAOSwvg9XfqeJ&item=391502007098 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ferrari-360-360-SV-/391502020060?forcerrptr=true&hash=item5b2756bddc:g:zYMAAOSwbYZXfqqy&item=391502020060 Dennis Brunton's ex-personal Stalker. I drove an old Morgan trike once and was less than enthusiastic at its active desire to throw you into the scenery. More hp just means you arrive at the scenery sooner I guess? I think I prefer 4 wheels. Auction has 9 hours to run. Bidding at $10k so far with 12 bids. I know MichaelD needs a new gearbox! http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/5659005961.html This blue Westfield from the UK has been on this thread before. But I have noticed it gets advertised all over the country in various locations. Equally I notice that someone is always flagging the ads to get them deleted. Hmmmm. It has UK and Florida plates. It is advertised today in FL and ad copy states it is located in Parkland FL. Since I last saw the car it has gained a rear wing. Not just a little rear wing but a big one. Wonderful - just what a cross flow needs.... http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=11375&stc=1 I would recommend a purchaser upgrade that roll bar as the standard westfield one has all the bench strength of a paperclip. And someone tell me what the hell is going on with that steering wheel hub? Go kart tire? Asking a very reasonable $15k. Purchaser should make sure it comes with complete US import paperwork. https://miami.craigslist.org/brw/cto/5671072415.html and advertised in Phoenix too https://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/5665514973.html Totally not a 7 but check out the Lotus 18 for sale in this ad - yum! http://newyork.craigslist.org/jsy/cto/5674092333.html Lets be considerate here - its a project.... https://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/5637612251.html Lotus 7 S2 project in a curiously intriguing ad... http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/cto/5629463373.html Believe it or not this is a superformance S1 for sale in TX. I say believe it or not as these are crap photos. Glad the seller told me it was a good-looking car. Its the right color. Price at $20k sounds quite good. It is located in Lubbock TX which is in the middle of nowhere. https://lubbock.craigslist.org/cto/5652473907.html The Lotus 7 S4 with BDR in GM pearl white in Denver CO is here again at $23900. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/5643318395.html Lemmings magazine has a bunch of sevens for sale: A classic Cat at $34900 - On price alone I would buy Bruce Bowker's instead of this dealer one. Someone else will have the photos of that to post I hope! Mechanical Sympathy Award: 3/4s of the group could have qualified for this. Even DaveD made a late effort at winning when he demonstrated gorilla strength to snap his gear level in half. But the worthy winner was Norm. Only one to be towed back to the pits with electrical gremlins. Greenpeace Award for Gas Guzzling: Normally v8 Storkers are the winners of this with their horrific fuel consumption of 3 mpg on track. However TomC wins this one for his 1900 mile one way drive from Eagle CO to Millville NJ. We love having you Tom! Golden Skidmarks Award: Ryan for his tearing up the grass just after turn 7 Gorgeous Car Pity About the Driver Award (a female beauty pageant trophy): This went to Dan3030 as he came and showed off his new (to him) Westfield Miata. A great addition to the group! Polisher Award: This valuable trophy was a steering wheel cover in baby poo brown faux polyester fur. Naturally this went to Roman who 'made me' help him chamois his car off after it got wet Friday night. Best Directions in a Moving Vehicle: This is an Oscar like trophy which went to Scott L for staying out of trouble, being fast and having no issues all weekend! Good guys win! I Can Steer Award: This had to go to Paul as after 2 years as our track photographer visitor he finally was persuaded to bring his Birkin out on track. So starting ear;ly this year he did a whole bunch of introductory track days and worked his way up into the solo intermediate group. He looked good on track and had good speed all weekend. I do want to say thank you to everyone for coming and enjoying the good time. To respond to some earlier comments: Todd - we would love to see you back. I know Seb very much valued your input to refining his driving technique and lines around NJMP. Seb had 60hp on you so he should have been quicker! Jay - Top photos! I hope you enjoyed the visit and we loved having you. I hope it helped you get a better sense of the cars and their various specs/options/etc so that you are an informed purchaser as you go car hunting. I think you got a good sense of the amazing things these little cars can do. Wemtd/Paul - great to see you out there on track enjoying things! I do want to say thanks to Tom as my partner in crime for helping to make this all happen. He registered 20,000 steps on Saturday on his pedometer. I believe I probably did the same looking at my swollen sore feet this morning. I also want to thank Don Fauerbach and Carolyn Watson, without whom we would not be running under the kind invitation of NJMP Drivers Club. They allow us the privilege of having our own run group with catered hot breakfast, delicious lunches and refreshments all day. We are so spoiled and I am very grateful for them. I also need to say thank you to TJ and Ian and TJ's father Terry, who saved more than one person this weekend with their mechanical issues. Edited to add: Tom your yellow seven is leaking oil - one of my Roombas had to be rescued covered in oil! oops!

  10. Stewart turned up with Colleen and the kids for a visit. Despite wheeling in to lunch in a wheelchair, he was showing off his rehab progress in the pits by demonstrating how he can stand for short periods as he works his way back from his paragliding crash. Inspirational stuff. He has not sold his seven and is using it as his goal to get driving again. I bet he will make it too. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/0A24CD1E-907A-4C54-B111-6B31F7E860C8_zpsncuaftix.jpg Mid afternoon we all gather under the canopy to sit around, relax, and just shoot the breeze: L to R - Beverly, DaveD, Dave H, Mike (Kitcat) http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/D5F6D874-9A1A-4E5A-BA00-C67A07AFB735_zps7av8fduz.jpg L to R: Mike (Kitcat), Norm, Fred http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/CC17704E-7789-4848-B1C5-DE0A04D2B0ED_zpssbqng63x.jpg Stewart and Colleen and Esmay chatting with Kathy (Tom's better half). http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/E96C53B6-8181-4D81-B715-9EBE01930D67_zpsgbe2xkzd.jpg
  11. However, it was not all Republican. Kitcat, as a good humored die hard Democrat agreed to wear a Hillary image on the rear of his car so that as Tom followed him it would put him off his game. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/DCA1AF19-15FB-4096-82AB-883E8A590D48_zpshihyoxxg.jpg Its all in the spirit of fun. We definitely do not take ourselves too seriously. The social time we have at this event is more than the track time I think. Here is the effort being put into fixing Jim's wheel bearing issue. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/3F5DBA63-B0E5-44D8-A86B-5E8524701DC8_zpsspzxitnf.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/1FC6D239-7A55-47CA-899F-AF6355C0A15D_zpspm1o3v4j.jpg
  12. So its Monday morning. My little Roombas are hard at work downstairs cleaning up the garage while I get going. A good number of people left last night and the rest will be gone, including me this morning. It was a fantastic weekend. I am tired, quite sore in some places, a little sunburned but very happy. Sunday dawned overcast and unfortunately it started to rain around 7 but that stopped around 9 and the first few sessions dried the track off for us so it was pretty much dry for our first session of 10am. And it stayed dry all day. It was a perfect driving weekend. The mechanical fun continued on Sunday: - Paul got his steering rod brackets welded up by TJ a local race mechanic who looks after Jeff and my cars. So he was back in business. - TJ also sourced a bolt for Tom C who need one for his steering. - Norm started having electrical problems and coasted into the pits once and was towed in once. - Jim had a rear bearing go and despite having TJ and his assistant, Ian, work away at the problem, defeat was admitted. - DaveH and son Ryan developed a oil pan weep which they dealt with my putting the trusty Zetec Depends diaper on and continuing to run. - MichaelD was having gear selection issues. Somehow we all kept it together for most of the day! Drivers briefing was very entertaining. Fred's missing cycle wing was returned to him along with MichaelD's number plate. The story finally came out. Fred lost his cycle wing on the back straight. MichaelD was following and in trying to avoid Fred's wing managed to aim to hit it dead center tearing off his front number plate. Also in the last session on Saturday, something brown and vaguely furry appeared on the exit of the bowl. I thought it was a sock. Others thought it was dead animal. Story came out last night at dinner - it was Norm's rag pile that fell off his car. Driving standard was very high. At least until the 3rd session on Sunday when all hell broke loose. I come around turn 1 to find debris flags and a rock/boulder on the track between turn 1 and 2. WTF? Turns out Kitcat (figures eh?) had been "landscaping" with an off track excursion. The I come around to turn 7 and after exiting I discover rutted grass, dirt, earth moving activities. Turns out Ryan had a big moment, luckily recorded on video and happily shared at dinner with everyone by DaveH, his father. Some photos: Seb caught polishing his car after the rain! http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/D2D70367-8D34-44D1-8E80-A8D2726B5E07_zpsxvs7nion.jpg The usual political jokes that I play on Tom, a die hard Republican, occurred again this year. He was fastest driver of the day. Absolutely blitzing everyone - even Seb with his 60hp advantage. The two had great fun playing tag around the track. Seb was eagerly learning the techniques so that he can keep ahead of Simon (his usual track tag buddy) who could not make it. Lunch was at the condo garages with 3 units open for checking out - mine, Jerry's and the for sale unit where the buffet line was set up. Since everyone got photos of mine that will turn up on here, I will say that Jerry's had the more expensive fitout by a huge number. That wall is entirely a mural - a 50 foot by 20 foot mural on that wall. 17. So we survived Saturday. Weather was perfect - sunny, not a cloud in the sky. Track was perfect - washed clean, grippy. What could possibly go wrong? Well....it certainly tested a LOT of cars. The mechanical roll call: - A fair amount of carburetor tuning took place - Fred lost a cycle wing on the back straight - Paul has cracked two steering rods - Steve probably punctured a left front tire - no hiss but it won't hold the air. - Jim had coolant burping issues and quite possibly has a small head gasket issue evidenced by soot in the overflow container. - Then there was Jeff - first lap of the first session the brakes head to the floor. Turns out it the front hubs had cracked and destroyed the bearings under it and lost a spacer in the process. So Terry who fitted out my garage took off to track down a 1966 Spitfire hub in Millville. But that failed so he then took Tom's garage door remote and went for a 3 hour drive to pick up some spares in Tom's garage. Jeff was back on track for the last session of the day! There were probably other sagas going on that I missed but hey, that was half the fun! Here is a grab bag of photos taken on my phone to give you and idea. MichaelD's and Norm's aero Caterham. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/16A4F928-5104-45ED-9F9C-8B6A2C6145E2_zpspliebk9u.jpg Fred posing in front of Scott working on his Caterham http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/5B6910AE-D058-49C3-BC75-438E3EE7FCB9_zpsq7r4xicu.jpg Fred's Honda Blade engined Locost http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/B0D5F8EF-DCD1-41E7-9229-473F2129779F_zpsand96xfj.jpg Roman's Ultralite http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/DE2B297C-436D-40BD-BE86-92424402BE28_zpsde911zb0.jpg
  18. And it is the end of this thread as we move to the photo thread here: http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?11213-2016-East-Coast-Sevens-Event-Photo-Thread
  19. So how is the fun in Noo Joisey? Well we missed out on karting. Quite a few of us got quite wet. Everything started off great. The beers in the pits were being opened. People were arriving. So far so good. Then some rain arrived with a bit of thunder. So we locked the cars down and headed for the bar as no karting was ever going to happen in that weather. But then the weather turned real nasty. Biblical rain, high winds, thunder and lightning. Flooding in Millville. Seb was putting his car in the garage and both of us were quite alarmed at the clouds roiling around above us. So much so we contemplated our options for taking cover. The 20x20 tent outside the garage for Saturday's lunch was partially airborne and would have been if it were not for the fence it was attached to. But everything settled down for dinner. The drinks flowed. The jokes and laughter started. The fun began. And we will just have to find another time for the karting to take place. Last night I slept with six sevens. I think I pickup 2 more cars to store Saturday night. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/509C7587-F56D-4862-9F61-843067ACDC14_zpstiocck24.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/2016%20Sevens%20Event%20at%20NJMP/3972A3EB-FFAF-48CC-A019-2F1DCFAB6F9F_zps8lfaqxgm.jpg One thing I learned last night - do not open an 18 foot high garage door with bright lights on for Roman to change wheels over. One, you get attacked by all the frogs looking to mate after the rain and two, every frigging insect comes calling to buzz the lights. It took me forever to kill enough bugs to get a quiet sleep.
  20. It was pretty quiet here last night apart from the guy mowing the track infield at 11.30pm! :ack: My cleaning bitches have been hard at work since 5am (no not me! my Roomba vacuums) making sure the garage mahal is clean for Saturday lunch and its prospective overnight residents. I will wash 2 cars shortly and jinx everyone for rain! If anyone arrives early I will be at the garage - past the villas on the way to Thunderbolt circuit.
  21. Seb - you did register for karting. It starts at 3pm Friday so try to be there a little before. You did not register for Sunday driving but its not a problem to accommodate that. The only catch is no cash is accepted for a drive as they insist on payment through credit card, i.e. motorsportreg.com.
  22. Its ok Roman. Dermot found a place at the Quality inn. Thanks for taking the initiative though!
  23. I am probably down to only 2 more spaces free for storing sevens overnight. Another car not expected in for a week will be arriving this week.... Seb - The track wants you to sign up on motorsportreg.com if at all possible since it makes the payment process simpler for them. At least give Carolyn the heads up on Friday at karting when you check in with her. She can advise how to handle at that late stage.
  24. What can I say Sean - brilliantly said!
  25. Sorry the pithy remarks have fallen off for lack of time. I get up at 4 and hit bed at midnight 7 days a week - there is not much free time these days. Dont expect much this coming weekend either as I am working on the sevens event in Millville, NJ. Come along Panamericano - we would love to see another forum member in person!
