So, is Croc going to post his "classified market watch" on Saturday instead of Sunday since we are potentially going to be down for a full day. Asking for a friend  -
Good looking car and specs, can't wait to see it. You may want to add the full weather gear, or at least the top for those days where you get caught out 100 miles from home and the weather turns ugly. Bill S.

At this time, the way the 2015 SEMA/NHTSA regulation was written (and passed) engines used must conform to current model-year emissions standards. The EPA has issued guidelines for builders who go down that road. Bill S. PS: In your cars case, you "may" be able to get an exemption to the OBD2 ruling, it will not be easy, you will need an attorney, and lots and lots of patience..Either that, or you will need to dump the aftermarket ECU and install a factory harness with OBD2 port and all associated emissions parts, sorry.

The Regular Summary of Classified Ads of Se7ens Found For Sale

That was a great deal for car, sorry it wasn't me....Just not meant to be right now.....My search will continue.... Bill S. -
Posted this on the current BAT auction a few days ago: First time I took my wife for a ride in our first “7”, (found on a 4X6 note card on the bulletin board at Moss Motors in NJ) late 80’s, Kent powered, 2 webers, 4spd, solid axle, mid March in the NE, maybe in the high 40’s, low 50’s, RHD, slab seats, 4 point harnesses. We must have been out for at least an hour and a half. Got home, as we are getting out of the car, all of the stones we had to brush off each other, with smiles on our face, and laughter filling our small one car garage. I can still remember the first words out of her mouth “that was great, when are we going out again”….So many great memories, so many great adventures in that car and others over the years. Can’t wait to make many, many, more, either with this car, or another depending on how fate prevails. Bill S. PS: Now, granted, it's been a few years since I've owned a "7" (the last two being of the Birkin variety), I'm certain SWMBO will still enjoy the occasional outing in a "7" .

Outbid today while at work, I'll be watching, need to check out todays Q&A, see if anyone has asked about the compression of the motor yet for future reference/consideration. I thought there was a previous thread on the BAT car on the forum, but a quick search did not turn it up. Edit: Found THIS ONE appears to be the same car. -

Me too, should have bought it when I had the chance... As for the one on BAT, we will see where it goes, you just never know -
I met someone "pre-covid" at Cars & Coffee (Michelin Corp Headquarters off Pelham Rd) with a Holden a year or so ago, was that you? If so, I was the gentleman with the Grabber Orange 69 GT500 fastback. Bill S.

I can assist there as well, as I've owned, built, rebuilt several 5.0L Ford powered Miatas. You want to read of one such adventure where we "found" the Greenville area, click HERE.

Already answered above, although, I am slightly swayed, as I have a good friend in upstate NY who is a Caterham dealer, he and I have known each other through various other makes, models, adventures for close to, if not longer than 30 years. We may see each other once every other year these days, but we interact here online quite frequently. Not sure I'd ask for a special deal, as that too is not my style, although there was one night at WGI many year ago that he may want me to leave out of my memoirs if I ever publish them  . Still not sold on a new, scratch build, I'll be watching the used market into the 1st and 2nd quarter of 2021 to see if anything catches my fancy , for more of an instant gratification, spur of the moment type purchase. With me, you just never know. Bill S.

Just off Pelham/Hudson Rd a few miles from the Haywood Mall :driving: . Spring will be here soon, no more back issues for me, which means I too will be on the hunt for my next "7". Maybe a new scratch build is in order, we can share the cost of a container ...Only time will tell. Bill S.

new 310r on order - color change?
mrmustang replied to jimmylukeii's topic in General Sevens Discussion
If you built your MK IV, your Caterham build will seem almost too easy, so much so, your wife might even decide to assist as a bonding expereience...This coming from a multi generation FFR builder/restorer who started with an original MK I and the original "39" page mimeographed assembly manual :banghead: . As for color, based on my experience both in the NE and the SE, yes, I'd agree a louder color and horn assembly are warranted. Especially if you had an issue with the MK IV and the sidepipes singing. People just want to check the car out while they are driving, never realizing that they are drifting towards you. Others are just blissfully unaware, my Grabber Orange 69 Shelby being the perfect example of several near misses with the offender stating "I did not see you" :leaving: Just my two cents worth Bill S. -
Yoram, Welcome to the madness, if you are having issues with the sites, you might want to switch browsers. I have a tendency to use either MS Edge, or Seamonkey/Firefox platforms and do not have as many issues with the site navigation. Also, take your time, enjoy your hunt for the perfect combination, that will be 1/4 of the fun. Bill S. PS: Where in the upstate are you located?

Westfield Mega S2000 and Superformance S1 comparison
mrmustang replied to JohnCh's topic in Seven Videos
I spent a week with the original black SPF prototype in Ohio years ago, was a blast to drive. As with Birkin and Caterham, nimble, agile, and quick as heck with at that time a fresh, out of the crate stock 2.0L Zetec. I found it to be quite civilized for a 7 derivative, never could get over the nose styling or the convertible header layout, other than that, I would have bought it on the spot had I not already had a 427 SC ERA Cobra replica, 2-V8 Miatas, and an original series 2 RHD 67 Lotus 7 (labeled "the money pit" by SWMBO) restoration project at the time. Have been through such transformations before, hang in there and again thanks for your hard work. Bill S.

No argument there at all, but it still is not a maker of the market as a whole, unless your entire market is now BAT. I'll continue to collect the data as I have for years......When I'm ready, another 7 will be in the garage, and more than likely, by spring, be it a Caterham, Birkin, or ???? As a keeper of many Cobra replicas, I can tell you that the flip side is the same, how it is titled can cause high asking price based on the assumption of ease of retitle and registration (California excluded), or could be a detriment, causing a decrease in the price (older PA kit car title without a year and a big RECONSTRUCTED listed on them). Again, Rick (aka: Mark IV) can attest to this if asked....... No harm, no foul, everyone earns there money differently, everyone spends their money differently, everyone views the cars differently.....It's all good any way you look at it as long as you enjoy it for what it is. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, as someone who has been going to, and buying at the live, in person auctions for a 1/4 of a century or more (Mark IV and Skip can attest to this ), an auction result does not automatically reset the entire market, nor does it "make the market". In the case of an auction, you have at least two people (hopefully, unless there are underhanded things going on in the background similar to the 308 fiasco of the late 80's) who want a specific car, add in a little consumables, or an ego issue, and you get record pricing for the sale of a car. Again, this is a live auction atmosphere, not a classified advertisement online, but live action, where mitigating factors come in to play. What we see afterwards, and the Black and red car in the classifieds is the perfect example (no offense to the seller, it's a beautiful car), is a seller now viewing the auction results and saying "well if that car sold for XXXX, then my car is worth XXXXX, watching the $9,000 bump in asking price yesterday shows this to be true. We, who have been around the longest online, call this "The Barrett Jackson Syndrome", there are hundreds if not thousands of such examples of a bump in price online, usually you see it on craigslist type adds, or higher buy it now or opening prices on ebay, before they trickle down to the forums as the sellers now "test the new market" as they see it. Of course the flip side is, someone who sees the auction says "I better jump in and buy now before the prices skyrocket" as a knee-jerk reaction....Yet those folks are far and few between, in fact, with specialty forums like this, are almost non existent these days, as we are enthusiasts first, and most do not view their cars as an investment, but a toy to use as they see fit. Just my two cents worth this morning. Bill S. -
