Serious buyer(s) will not chase after you further
Enough said

I'll play around with cold pressures until I like how it feels. Going to drop down to 28psi for the next time out.

Took the Birkin out of the garage this AM to install the sump guard I purchased from "11Budlite", clearly a standard item as everything lined right up and bolted right in. Took me all of 5 minutes....
Decided since that was done, I might as well take a test spin out and make sure everything was nice and tight. of course I lowered the tire pressures to 34psi (previous owner had them at 45-48psi) 38 miles later
the car passed my inspection as well as the PA state inspection (safety, no emissions in my county). Car ran great, a little cool with the electric water pump, but I am sure as the temps get above 60, the water temps will rise as well.
Did have one hiccup at a red light the car stalled (twice), but ran like champ otherwise. Will have to check on that one, along with why the heater fan was not working, but all very minor in my book.
Again, a great day for a ride.

You're right, it's great that I can zoom in and read it and copy pictures into paint shop, see minor details, send them to friends or post them etc etc.
Tough to carry around the shop though :svengo:

Well, not totally true. I contacted ATC today and queried them about buying direct. I was informed (and they were very nice) that I would have to purchase through a dealer.
Now, Bill, if you have connections with ATC that I don't . . . . Well . . . . I think you should share.
I happened to stop in their manufacturing plant, spec's out a trailer I was thinking of purchasing, they had no problem with giving me pricing, arranging production, and having me pick it up there if I wanted. Perhaps things have changed since 2007, not sure why though.

Car has always been stored indoors and started and driven on a schedule- it is in a car collection that most cars are in the 6 figures if not more.
Are you the owner, brokering it for the owner, or did you buy it to potentially flip to a buyer here?

Just not the same..........

That's certainly different. I'd like to take a closer look at the car. In one of the photos, the upper A-arm looks to be bent rearward. :ack:

This is not a car for every one. This is a very stiff drivers car. Its pretty much like driving a motorcycle, you need to be aware of your surroundings kind of thing. You need to be very interested in being a driver to drive this car to drive it normally. This is not recommended as a daily driver.... unless you have the spine of Hercules.
This is raw power and a raw car, you get feed back from everything. No computers trying to tell you what to do... just you and the road.

I'm pretty sure that Birkin on ebay sat on the market for a while before selling for a good deal less than the current bid.
I question the sellers use of a "protected bidder/private auction" since Ebay masks the identity of bidders these days.
On another note, anyone wonder like I do who's kit this car started life as?
-
I don't have a photo, though if you like, I can post one later. It's the same as 11budlight's.
If it is the same, then I do not need another picture posted. Was just looking at different options.
Thanks,
Bill S.

I recently upgraded to a Raceline sump on my Birkin. I also installed a Birkin sump guard sourced from Texas Motor Works. I haven't "tested" it, but it looks as though it ought to do the job.
Randall
Do you have a picture of it?

Here is a post from a previous discussion, I think it is important to have a taper fore and aft to protect while backing. The weight issue is minimal since it is so low and this has taken some hits up in the mountains several times, unavoidable, and no harm to anything.
I did a search and saw that thread. Was yours premade, or a one off custom item?
-
If you could get one like they made for the Superformance S-1 built, it would be great. It is made from fiberglass and screws onto the bottom of the floor at the frame locations, and has very rounded edges so it glides over just about every speed bump very nicely.
Tom
Any pictures, I'm always game to see what others are using on their cars.

My chassis is BIY 1903, sent you a PM.

Any others?

Does anyone make a quality bolt in sump guard for my Zetec powered Birken?
I've got the stock pan currently installed, but also have a Canton pan that I plan to install some time this spring.
Thanks in advance,
Bill S.

I didn't think you were quite that crazy but I had to ask.
Well, there is always my annual new years day ride, -6 was the coldest, 84 was my warmest.
Bill S.
-
Bill,
Did you drive it or was that round trip with the car on a trailer coming home?
If you drove it for 19 hours you deserve an Iron Butt award.
-1 to + 8 degrees,I'm crazy, but not that crazy, it was trailered home
Bill S.
-
19.10 hours, 978 miles, 1.5 hour catnap and the Sunburst Birkin is now safely tucked in the corner of the garage until spring. Hopefully the rehab I endured with my back comes to fruition :auto:

You can also contact ATC and have them build you a trailer to spec, cut out the middle man and his/her mark up at the same time.

It's not a Caterham and I have no affiliation with the seller but I thought I would add this to the list as it's nearby.
Great day for a ride
