Update on the seats

Well my new seats arrived back from being coverd today and Mark at McGregor Motor sports fitted them in for me, I really pleased with them and the wife is going to be a lot happier that these ones dont have the tight fit that the bucket sides provided with the Birkin seats (it dont bother me at all) it should provide here with a more comfy ride for longer trips than 3-4 hours. I plan to remove some foam from my side so that I sit a bit lower as they have been packed up a bit but its a easy job as the upholstery people put a zip underneath for this reason.

Here are some pics

Very nice looking seats you have their.

I have to say after looking at your photos and seeing how nice the inside of your car looks. I have to say my car looks like it is naked as I do not have any of the nice side covers or center console cover or any of that nice looking leather and now I am jealous, well at least thinking if I can or want to do that to my car.

Well the last bits that I want done to Grace are now being completed at McGregor Motosports the back panel has been pulled off and scrapped as it was in pretty bad shape when I purchased the car, lots of dents and stone damage and other damage that really stood out, the guards are all off plus the nosecone and they have been sent to the painters to be resprayed from black to a ford metalic blue, Grace looked great in black & aluminum but it was such a had colour to keep clean and polish and with it needing a repaint due to stone damage and the old red paint job showing through in parts it was decided that it was time to change colour. Im keeping the bare aluminum on the car as it has grown on me and ill just live with polishing it. These 2 jobs complete my main list of things to do on the car im looking forward to getting it back together and seeing the new paint job now.

So after a week at the local Seven builders here in Christchurch NZ (McGregor Motosport) Grace was finished, she has had a new back panel in 1.6mm aluminum to help stiffen up the rear end as the birkins are quite lightly fabricated in the rear end, also the orignal panel was had very bad stone damage to it when i purchsed her in January but you couldnt see it from photos, 2 new S/S stone chip guards a new spare wheel holder and nice shiny blue metalic paint job, both the rear panel and the bonnet have been polished too.

Here are some pics (Updated with better pictures)

Still a few jobs left too do, chrome the roll bar and spare wheel carrier a new S/S heat shield to extend up to the 4 into 1 collector and couple of other bits and shes done ready for spring/summer.

Couple of updates to Grace this week.

Finally my doors arrived from the USA it took over 3 weeks but at least there here before Christmas. I purchased doors from Texas Motor Works ( http://www.texasmotorworks7.com/ ) which is the Birkin dealer in the US the guy who owns it Dick Brink was very help full and really easy to deal with cost was NZ $650 to my door via the US Postal service in comparison the Aussie dealer wanted NZ $1300 and didn't respond to my email much.

I also had a new grill laser cut and painted which my mate drew up in Autocad for me to my design.

The doors are great on the car and will get used for longer trips, they have a nice side pocket which adds heaps of elbow room to allow for a un-cramped driving style when they are on.

I would say that is one of the best colour combos I have seen.

I love that blue.

ps, a little bit of bright trim finisher on the last bit of exhaust would really look good as everything else is pristine.

I'm going to change the exhaust a bit next winter as i'm not happy about its position and want to move it back 4" so the muffler comes back to the rear wheel guard and pushes the exhaust fumes under the wheel arch I will then change a few parts to polished S/S while i'm at it.
