  1. Hi Tom. If I had a VHPD head, I'd definitely be keeping that! The upgrade build went well - just degreeing the cams and installing the trans before I can put the engine back in its home!
  2. Any takers? If not, the parts are going to the recycler / scrap yard on Thursday! Thanks, Aric
  3. A few parts to add: - sintered steel cam wheels - Supersport cams for solid followers
  4. In the process of upgrading / rebuilding the engine in my S3, I have accumulated a fair amount of parts. Since K Series lumps are not that common in the States, I don't know how much items will be worth, but thought I'd offer them here to see if anyone is interested before they go to the scrap yard. The engine was in fine running condition when it was torn down for the rebuild. For sale, best offer: 1.4L K short block, with crank, rods, and pistons installed, otherwise stripped. Stock K head with cam ladder, and valves / seals, otherwise stripped K Supersport intake plenum and throttle body, with bracketry EU2 MEMS ECU and MAP sensor Stock (large body) alternator and bracketry "Purple" dry sump scavenge pump and fittings with some plumbing bits Some miscellaneous bits Location: SE Michigan (Detroit NW suburbs) I'll post pictures if there is any interest. Cheers, Aric
  5. Messages sent. The front suspension stuff is gone (thanks dvl), and the seats squabs are called for, as are the cycle wing mounts and the rear fenders. All other pieces still available. 4.) Full set of front and rear Bilstein adjustable coilovers (dedion through-tube mount) 5.) Wiper Rack 6.) Monza style lockable fuel filler (do not have key, but can be re-cored) 7.) Right Hand drive single side roll-over hoop assembly with Petty bar I'm finding a few more pieces too. For example: Westermann Motorsports carbon fiber dash panel for RHD, otherwise blank, fits SV chassis (sent to me by mistake) ...more to come.
  6. ...I also forgot to post that I have a complete lower pair and back leather covered (bluish black) "squab" seat that goes with the parts. It's in my trailer so I don't have pictures, but if anyone wants that I'll let it go inexpensively too Aric
  7. Michael, Dave, PM me with a reasonable offer and they're yours! Looks like this will be a part out
  8. For sale - Caterham S3 parts. These parts are surplus from my late 1990s Caterham S3 rebuild. I'm listing here first . Pick-up only, South Lyon MI (SE Michigan). I'd like it all gone at the same time. parts include: 1.) Full front suspension upper and lower A-Arms with upgraded anti-roll bar (standard width) 2.) Rear wings with lights (standard width) 3.) Fabricated adjustable cycle wing mounts 4.) Full set of front and rear Bilstein adjustable coilovers 5.) Wiper Rack 6.) Monza style lockable fuel filler (do not have key, but can be re-cored) 7.) Right Hand drive single side roll-over hoop assembly with Petty bar First offer over $400 takes the whole lot!
  9. Awesome sounding engine! The current 1.6 K in my car is dry sumped (earlier pink pump), bit I'll probably upgrade to the gold pump and "conning tower" system on the recommendation of Dave Andrews when the 1.8 goes in the car. Cheers, Aric
  10. Hi Tom - glad to hear there are more K Series guys on here. I love the K personally - great engineering and very light weight for it's power potential, and I thrash the heck out of my K Series Elise with nary an issue (knock wood), so I'm really looking forward to getting the 7 on the track. I have another monster engine I'm building up (1.8L, tuftrided VHPD crank, forged pistons, Andrews Head, Jenveys, Emerald ECU, shooting for 205BHP) I'll be putting in the Caterham sooner or later too, whenever I can get my head back from England. I think I might have stumbled upon the same link you were trying to post pictures from since I posted above - not sure though, your links appear as "default" with a little "piece of paper" icon In any case, thanks for the quick reply. Aric
  11. Greetings all. I am finally getting started on outfitting my relatively newly purchased 7 for track day duty as a more pure alternative to my Rover-engined Elise. The 7 is a 1996 Rover K 1.6 Supersport S3, Imperial chassis. I ordered a large amount of parts from Caterham UK, and they came today, so I stated digging in. First order of business was mocking up the SLR cage to the car. The main hoop attachment points and the rear legs lined up nicely, which put the large front attachment bosses lined up nicely on the top chassis rail where they should be. Chancing a miss, I drilled a pilot hole to see if there was a boss on the top rail. The inner panels were glued and riveted by the previous owner of the car, so there was no removing them without permanent damage, so this was thought to be the right approach. Suffice to say, hunting around a few more times after the initial pilot hole through the skin, I can say with certainty that my frame does not have bosses for the cage front mount. It does have bosses on at least one side for the Petty bar location point for the cage though, as the PO use a Petty bar with his Vauxhall-style single sided roll bar. Needless to say, I'm a little perplexed, as I was under the impression that all the later S3 chassis had cage bosses, and doing this right (welding in sleeves into the chassis) is going to mean de/re-skinning the whole car if what I found is indeed the case. I had read somewhere that there might be some sort of bracket to adapt the SLR cage to older S3s, but I haven't been able to find much if any details, other than a picture of a nondescript bracket on the Caterham Parts page... Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your reply. Aric
  12. Nice spec. Who built your engine? What sort of induction and ECU are you running?
  13. I do - it's a VVC 143BHP (MGF-spec) K. Some day I may do a K20 or K24 conversion on the car, but for now 143BHP is enough for track days. Cheers, Aric
  14. Not really for a 7, but I thought I'd list these here to see if there was anyone building a locost or wanted to tinker. I have a set of blue / black leather Lotus Elise S1 111S (2000 M/Y)seats for sale. The are in excellent condition, having come from a car that only had 12K kilometers (European mainland spec car). The passenger seat has a full bracket set, and the driver's side has the side brackets but no slider. Driver's seat has an air / bulb lumber bladder. Some hardware (but not all) come with the seats. These are very comfortable seats, having personally used them more than 400 miles in a day with no discomfort whatsoever. Dimensions: Mounting bracket hole-hole width: 16" Seat bottom width: 17" overall Width at shoulder: 19.5" Height: ~33" Pictures to follow. $950 OBO + shipping for the pair.
