Dale just delivered to me an alternator that he found in Wichita. I can’t thank Dale enough for digging and finding that an alternator from a 1993 LANDROVER - DEFENDER 110 - 3.9L - 3947cc will fit a Westfield mount on a 1.8 Liter Zetec. Westfield calls for a Lucas LRB 172 but there weren’t any 1.8 engines brought into North America with this alternator thus no one stocks it. The best price I could find on the Lucas was $240 + freight from FL. They are very common in England and retail is 85 GBP but it is the freight that will kill you. Westfield’s courier wanted close to $250 door to door.

Thanks 1-t The 1st 2 Bosch units were superseded by the 3rd one and that alternator has never been imported to the US according to Bosch USA. carsport, I live in Leawood KS 66206. You’re welcome to come by anytime. I will send you an image of the Westfield mount. It has rubber bushings that go into the large holes and it uses a Ford adjustable arm for tensioning the belt. Let me know if you have any other ideas on how to find a unit that will fit.

( I posted this on Locost North America and Locost USA but have not found an alternator as of yet.) If anyone were to tell me I couldn't fine an alternator for my 1.8 Zetec with a Westfield mount I would tell them they were crazy. Well after looking on and off for the past 6 months I give up. I can find one in Europe but the ridiculous prices plus $100 freight burns me up. Does anyone know where I can find a Lucas LRB00172 alternator or one of the cross referenced ones below?
