  1. Hmmm. I never noticed it before. It's my dad's toy. He has a new toy now, so this one must go. I'll have to ask him what that's all about.
  2. Parting out a Ford Focus prepared class autocross car, this engine would really make a Seven scream! http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c228/fiascorally/zetec.jpg For Sale: a Zetec built to Solo E Prepared rules. Bored .040 over, but not stroked. Motor built completely by PK Machine in Fitchburg, MA (a well known and respected shop in New England). The motor was bored using a head plate (which is torqued down like the head for the boring process - I have the plate - it cost $450) this allows for no bore distortion when the motor is assembled. Block and head were machined for weight, clearance and flow; moving assembly balanced. When refreshed about two years ago, replaced rings and bearings - which it really didn't need - Bill Gendron, owner of Small Fortune Racing, commented that the "machine work on the motor was a work of art" because everything was done to perfection. The motor has 12.5 to one compression, currently has piper cams for mid/hi-range torque (between 165 and 170 ft. lbs from about 3,200 to 7,600 RPMs a pretty flat curve and will go to 8K with little drop. It pulls to 8,000 RPMs although I use a 7,600 red line rev limiter for running - even at the Solo National Championships. Engine HP is about 195 at the wheels (could easily be set up for more peak HP at the expense of broad torque curve). The engine build book is maintained by Paul Krause @ PK Machine. Intake is Jenvey manifold with four Jenvey ITBs (48mm to 45mm) with 120mm horns. Computer and ignition are F.A.S.T. with MSD adjustable rev limiter. Focus Sports 4 into 1 header. The race fuel is 108 or 110 octane, I tune it on fuel from one supplier (Small Fortune Racing) and stick with it for the season. Since it was used for autocross the motor has very little real time on it ... I will include with the motor one extra set of performance cams, extra aluminum bottom end (section between block and oil pan) , extra stock head and some miscellaneous spare pieces. The computer, ignition module and rev limiter will be included. I am asking $6,500 for the engine and computer - my investment is well over $20K ... I think the computer and related stuff were nearly $4.5K and the Jenvey set-up was about $4K alone. Contact me at andrewsteere@tds.net, and I can put you in touch with my father. Thanks!
