Inertia switch spring

Went over a large pothole at speed and lost power! Turned over but no start and couldn't hear the fuel pump. Inertia switch, no sweat. However, in a moment of sheer buffonery, I lifted off the top off the inertia switch instead of depressing the button and two little metal flaps and a tiny spring popped out. It seemed very obvious where the metal flaps went but no idea on the spring. I slid the metal flaps down and they opened the switch and it started no problem with the top back on but I have this spring which seems like it should probably be in there somewhere. Any guesses where this spring should go? Hopefully attached pic will help.
