Looking at buying first Caterham. Need opinions please!

Hi All!

 

Am in the middle of negotiations for a 2001 Caterham with the 2.0 Zetec. I am hoping to get some opinions and if anyone knew any details regarding this vehicle.

 

Apparently the odometer has been changed for "registration" purposes. The pink slip shows ~8000 miles on the clock. Owner says that the car was dialed forward for inspection then dialed back to 500 which is the actual number.

 

I am iffy. In addition, that air filter looks awfully dirty for a car that has been driven for only 500 miles.. Can somebody chime in and let me know what they think? I look forward to hearing from any of the members on here!
