Seeking advice for registering / insuring a 7 in Ontario

The gentleman who bought my 7 was shocked when he was told that it would cost $4000/year to register / insure in Ontario because "Birkin" doesn't appear on the official 'approved' list of vehicles...

 

I'm sure there's a work-around. Any tips / advice would be very much appreciated.

I was going to buy a Birkin from a dealer in Calgary before I bought my HPC and the dealer was willing to have it titled and insured so I know it's possible. Also, just bc Birkin doesn't show up on the register doesn't mean that this car couldn't be listed as "kit". This would also exempt the emissions requirement.
