Help with 1700cc heater plumbing

I am looking at reinstalling a down-blow type cabin heater in my Ford Super Seven.

 

Need help with plumbing, pictures would be great. I suspect the water outlet is on

the water pump, and the return is on the intake manifold. If correct, what threads

for barbs will exist there and what would be the appropriate hose ID? Will a simple

non-bypass valve be appropriate, since those two ports are blocked now?
