tedtaylor Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 (edited) https://reno.craigslist.org/pts/d/four-speed-lotus-europa-twin/6528561283.html No relation, no affiliation, FYI only, but in email correspondence from seller, they seem quite anxious to move this out, so i'll bet price could be negotiable. here's the CL link. Appears to be Lotus twin cam with weber carbs and advertised as being for a Europa, however the transmission appears fit for a Seven. good luck if interested. James A Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 That is the set up used in the Elan and Cortina, the engine could have been an early Lotus 7 set up but the headers are all wrong for a 7. Definitely not Europa as it is a Ford gearbox. The headers make me think Cortina as I don't believe the ones pictured would have cleared the firewall of the Elan. Elan headers have to drop almost straight down and are four in to one with one pipe under the car and very little room for that one pipe.
tedtaylor Posted March 21, 2018 Author Posted March 21, 2018 the only reason I thought for a Seven was the extended shifter tunnel consistent with a Seven. An Elan would have the shifter right above the box, not extended back like this one. I don't know anything about a Cortina setup.
s2europa Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 The Series 4 Seven used the remote extension on the gearbox as well as the Lotus Cortina Mk1. I'm not sure about other series of Sevens. If the cam cover is original, my best guess would be that it's from a Lotus Cortina.
