twobone Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Its a terrific event and a great chance to bask in the glory of old english sports cars. On the bizzare side, last year there were about 8 or 10 DeLoreans there last year http://www.torontotriumph.com/BCD/ British Car Day is hosted by the Toronto Triumph Club, annually on the third Sunday of September. Since its inaugural event in 1984, it has grown in leaps and bounds, and now draws around 1000 British cars, with room to grow even bigger. The event is the premier all-British car event in North America, with visitors from throughout the northeast United States, the Maritime provinces, Quebec, and Manitoba. We have even had visitors from Alberta, Texas, the U.K., and New Zealand. The venue for British Car Day is Bronte Creek Provincial Park, about 20 miles west of downtown Toronto, conveniently located at the Burloak Drive exit of the Queen Elizabeth Way. The south entrance is for non-British cars, while the north entrance is reserved for British car exhibitors. Every year one of the most popular destinations of the park is the Vendors' area. Annually, over 50 British-related vendors offer their new and used goods for sale, including car parts, whole cars, t-shirts, hats, tools, books, supplies, and on and on. Many vendors offer end-of-season specials so there are lots of bargains. The gates open at 10:00 AM and participant judging begins in earnest. The judging wraps up around 1:30 and the awards ceremony begins about 3:00 PM. In 2006, there were well over 1000 vehicles, in 49 classes of cars, buses, and motorcycles, running the whole range from Minis to Rolls Royce, from Austins to Zephyrs, and everything in between. Many people bring their daily drivers, or projects-in-progress, just to line up with the many concourse-class cars in their class. This is the opportunity everyone looks forward to, to chat, to scrutinize, and plan for next year.
trough doctor Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I went last year and couldnt believe the number of cars in the show! I didnt stay long as I had my wife and two year old son with me. Mainly went to check out the lotus seven cars and was pleasantly surprised to see about ten cars on display. I was also hoping to see a seven for sale but no luck. Unlikely I will be able to make it this year. Hoping to show my 77 Cat twin cam next year (picking it up tomorrow). Twobone are you going to be there with your car?
twobone Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 Will be there for sure. I just joined the Lotus Canada Club and hope to meet some of the members there. This is a must go every year.
twobone Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 good attendance this year. Some very tasty sevens. Will post pics soon
nleroux7 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I was there last year with my 2002 Birkin S3 and I was given the second place. There was about 15 Lotus 7 on the field. I've posted many pictures on my British Car Club Website. Here's the link: http://picasaweb.google.com/infocarvaq/BritishCarShowDeOakvilleDansLeBronteCreekPark# Cheers, Nick
shiva Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Kinda weird that they choose to put that event on the same weekend as the Vermont British Invasion. Maybe I'll go next year and check it out. Toronto is a long drive from montreal but still. btw Nicolas, I saw you car last saturday. Interesting side luggage box you added this year.
