MNlotus Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 this winter my car has started leaking a bit of fuel while in storage. i took some pics of where it seems to be leaking from. it on the passenger side of the gas tank. it looks like the fuel pump gasket or something. where can i get a new gasket and am i going to have to drop the tank to fix this? also if i do have to drop the tank is there any good upgrades i can do with the tank out? fuel pump, lines, etc?
glenntwincam Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 had same problem 2 years ago. gasket is bosch p/n 68204 , from rockauto or napa , it's from mid 90's honda/acura . you have to remove the fuel tank to replace it. the tank does not " drop " you have to lift it out, must remove rollbar , disconnect fuel filler .ect. the flange you see is actually the holds fuel pump in the tank. when you see the gasket you'll see why some people make one from solid material. I had to flatten mounting flange on tank to get a good seal . then assembled with a gas resistant sealer. do not over tighten mounting screws or you will squeeze gasket out. we've been leak free for the last 2 years. after you look at it you'll see why it isn't the best setup . on hondas installation is on top of tank .
