How to remove T-9 speedo gear sensor?

Ok I'm stumped. How do you remove the sensor off the speedo gear? I'm trying to replace the leaky oil seal. I removed the c-clip, unscrewed it and tried to pull it out. It would just wiggle around and not pull out. I've read the transmission manual but didn't see how to remove the sensor. I didn't want to break it so I didn't pry on it very much.

Hope it helps you. I've never done it or even looked inside a T9, just relaying what I read.
