ultraslow Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Hello, About two weeks ago my Seven S3 developed a soft brake pedal. I had to pump to get pressure up and then after a bit, the pedal went soft again. Now it requires lots of pumping. :banghead:I have bled the brakes three times, front and rear. There are no leaks of brake fluid to be found, no loose fittings, and there was no air apparent when the brakes were bled. I haven't a clue what is going on. It's as of there is a volume that is expanding and filling when I push in the pedal. Anyone had a similar experience? Help!!!
jlumba81 Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 (edited) Sound like a brake master failure. Bad seal allowing the pressure to leak down. Not sure what size you have but maybe one of these will work for you. Edited May 26, 2013 by jlumba81
ultraslow Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 jlumba81, This site is amazing. I will look into sizes tomorrow and let you know the out come. I had wondered about a scenario involving the MC but had nothing to hand my guess on. Thanks again Talk with you later ultraslow
James A Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I agree with the master cylinder thought, but other things that will give soft pedal; brake pad "knock-back" caused by a rotor not running true, very worn brake pads seem to give us a soft pedal, and I have heard of, but never experienced, a caliper leaking internally past the piston seals and the bellows containing the leaked fluid. The knock back can be caused by an un-true rotor, or stub axel in the process of failing (it is no longer running true) or has even failed (yes the brake caliper and disc will hold the wheel on until the caliper fails)
