ultraslow Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I have an '85 Caterham S3, solid axle, 4 spd, 1600 Xflow Kent. I wonder, does anyone have any information regarding where the brake master cylinders for this model came from? I have found dual circuit cylinders( front discs split lines, rear drums single line ) that look similar on eBay UK; They were from '70-early 80's MGB/MGBGT and TR7/TR8s. Mine is currently at White Post and they are lost at sea and seem to be having altogether too much trouble finding replacement seals. Any help gratefully received. ultraslow
rx7locost Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I do not guarantee this info. Check for yourself: Girling master cylinder 74066147 Sold as TRW and Lucas too, same number Lucas 74066147 has 11/16" dia seals (a.k.a. 0.7" dia) Lucas 74066147 is used on a Morgan +8 ('79-'86) Morgan +8 ('79-'86) uses Lucas SP7657 seal kit If you search for "Lucas SP7657" you will find it is also used on '76-'80 Triumph Spitfires. All of this comes from the internet so it must be true. Use at your own risk!
ultraslow Posted August 7, 2013 Author Posted August 7, 2013 Thanks for the input. The Lucas unit looks v-promising. I will keep you posted. Ultraslow
Jackal Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 The PN's escape me at the moment, but Willwood also makes a Girling replacement. They seem to be the most readily available.
