Laramidian
Greetings Bluemax; Thanks for you kind words. The alternator light in this car is always on with ignition in run position. A well known issue with this generation of De Dion/Zetec Caterhams. Can be fixed with an alternator upgrade, but I never saw the need. To me, it quickly became a normal operating condition and a quick visual reminder that the ignition is 'on.'
BlueMax
Yes very familiar with that problem, being that your selling the car you may not want to but you can easley fix that with a diode attach to the light wire. I found that the led’s can’t handle 12V’s coming from alternator. You can see the diode attach to the bottom of the aluminum bracket off the back of my alternator. http://usa7s.com/vb/C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\Cars\Super_seven_sv\Alternator Cheers!! Laramidian
Bluemax; I really appreciate the information. Easy enough to do. I'm not seeing the image you sent? Also, what value diode do I need? Thanks again
CASwede
Neat to see it! Link to article. http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-reviews/2001-caterham-super-seven?click=main_sr Egan mentioned in one of his last articles that given the choice for a car that would remain forever enjoyable to work on, as well as drive, he'd pick either an MGB or Lotus 7. Smart man.
BlueMax
Sorry, I had to go check my folder on what was done. What we did was place a 8-10 ohm's resistor on the led light wire. Not a diode!! http://s1368.photobucket.com/user/gt40mirage/media/CopyofP1010256_zps0cbacfaa.jpg.html Edited May 8, 2014 by BlueMax
