  1. I used spacer when I really should have used adapter. Ok here is what I think your wheels would fit like on my car: I agree with your 12.7mm. Its not the first time I have noticed a discrepancy between offset and back spacing and thats one of the reasons I posted my math to make sure I wasn't way off. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v74/Ahhsk/ScreenShot2013-08-25at74226PM_zps084692c8.png
  2. ok so hypothetically (mostly) from some not very precise measurements of my car the other day it looks like the wheel mounting area (flange) to the outer portion of the rear wing is about 4.25 inches. I have run across a very attractive set of wheels that are 15x8.25 0 offset. (again lets call this a hypothetical exercise in determining needed offset). From what I understand offset it is the measurement from wheel centerline (positive numbers show offset towards the outside edge, negative numbers show an offset towards the inside of the car). so in this scenario if my clearance is 4.25 inch to the wing edge and with a zero offset wheel I end up 4.125 inches added from the flange to the outside edge of the car that means I have .125 inches to spare. To complicate matters I threw in a one inch spacer. which now make the flange to edge of the wheel distance 5.125 subtract my allowable 4.25 and that leaves me with and extra .875 (23mm). so if I can find the same wheel but in 15x8.25 +23et I would be on easy street...right? Heres a quick drawing. Any input is appreciated. fyi I'm no longer a track day guy and although I like spirited driving I hardly ever go super legal on the roads. but if you have some tid-bits on scrub radius or similar on this type of wheel please share. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v74/Ahhsk/ScreenShot2013-08-25at43948PM_zpse7507616.png
  3. Xcarguy your roadster is awesome! Ive seen the larger wheel on many cars just havent seen it on a caterham yet. Adapt it has 3.75 to 4x100 spacers! very cool thanks for the link! Scannon thats the exact tire widths I am interested in. I've seen a few pics with sevens with everything from 13" with 70 profile tires to 16" with I'm assuming 40 profiles and the 15" seems to be the sweet spot. Thanks. Im going to visit the car this afternoon with a vernier caliper and make sure its 3.75
  4. Hello, I ordinarily would shy away from bolt in adapters but considering the curb weight of a Seven i think it wouldn't pose any health risks. Anyone have any experience or recommendations? In a perfect world I would be able to easily source stylish 3.75 PCD wheels in 15" diameter. on a purely aesthetic note, anyone have a picture of a 14" front 15" rear or 15" front 16" rear? I think the car would support it nicely. Thanks Oscar
  5. Thanks for the info and links Stig. Hmm trumpet sock? I thought I saw a car on the forum with that. It does look like the easiest solution. I'll check ITG and the sock option. I mean if I have to move the hole on the bonnet so be it, but I'd much rather not if I could get a filter on there and not have it look goofy.
  6. Do they make short horns for the webers? does it have a significant effect on drivability? Here is a zoomed in pic. The rear most horns (not installed in this pic) dont leave a lot of clearance between the horn and bonnet (the car isn't home so I cant snap a quick pic of the clearance). how much clearance do you need between the horn and filter? Thanks Oscar
  7. awesome. do you have a picture by any chance?
  8. Does anyone have a single filter assembly instead of the dual K&N filters on their 1700 Supersprint? I'm looking for a single foam style filter instead of altering my new bonnet to fit the dual K&Ns. Looks like the hole opening is a bit further forward on this bonnet than the last one. I found ITG through google but am wondering if anyone has first hand experience and can make a recommendation. Thanks Oscar
  9. I'm into the car between $12k and $14k. I would like to get that back in a perfect world but I am open to offers. Oh and it was previously registered as a Dutton. The Netherlands Reg says its a 1980 Dutton. My bill of sale, and all my import docs (3520 and HS-7 say 1980 Caterham), which is clearly an error. thanks again guys, Oscar

  11. I finally had a moment to go to my storage unit and grab the binder. turns out it was much more data about the previous owner and less about the kit. here are some pictures of pictures: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v74/Ahhsk/IMG_2073_zpsd2522fc8.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v74/Ahhsk/IMG_2074_zps196887a5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v74/Ahhsk/IMG_2071_zpsc40501dd.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v74/Ahhsk/IMG_2069_zpsbc5b4942.jpg
  12. If you guys don't mind I will go recover the build up binder and scan some pages and see what you guys think. I can snag some extra pics while I'm in there too.
  13. Dutton thats it. That's what I get for trying to pull stuff from memory. I wish It was a Dauer! Mike, I'm originally a NYer. This car will end up at my Girlfriends house in Flushing sometime before winter if I can't get it sold. Oscar

Live axle and and engine have dripped a few times since she went into storage last year. I have driven her around town with no issues beside occasional popping from one of the carbs. Lights, wipers and heater blower work as do the gauges. It is not registered but I can accomplish that prior to sale if desired. If anyone has any information they would like to add, including what this is worth, please feel free. Thanks again, Oscar PS long time lurker, finally gave into not modding/ restoring and sadly here's the FS ad.

  19. Hello, I have a Caterham (clone) sitting in my storage unit that I will realistically never get to do what I wanted to do with. I imported it a few years back with the idea of turning it into a fun track toy, weekend runabout, and cross country tourer torture device (much better than my Ducati which is even more torturous for 1k mile trips). It was advertised as a 1980 Caterham and appears as such on the import documents but the EU title show Bauer (dauer?) as the make and the vin number is not a caterham vin. The previous owner did a great job cataloging the build with photos in a three ring binder that is also in my storage unit. I do not know much about these cars so please excuse any omissions or incorrect info. This is as much a "what is this" as it is a for sale ad. Car is in Dothan Alabama.
