funny man! :smilielol5: but my issue is being 6'6" tall. I wrote a story that was published in the Lotus ReMarque about my cross country trip in a Lotus 7 S4 (with hard top) http://taylormadeclassiccars.com/images/Lotus_Remarque_article.pdf That was a tight fit. When I got it home, I was able to remove the seat and install a smaller deep dish steering wheel. Then I was able to comfortably drive that one, but there's no way i'm going to fit in an S2! and yes, I could stand to lose a few pounds, but my tall lankiness is the main culprit. I fit fine in all my other Lotus cars....just not a Seven.

my latest acquisition, SB1197 barn find. Been sitting neglected in a garage some years now. Recent recommissioning work done, ready for road use. Lots of pictures here: http://taylormadeclassiccars.com/s2sevenblack.html unfortunately, i can't fit in it to even test drive it myself. can you help me find it a new home?

Lotus twin cam engine & trans FS in California
tedtaylor replied to tedtaylor's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
the only reason I thought for a Seven was the extended shifter tunnel consistent with a Seven. An Elan would have the shifter right above the box, not extended back like this one. I don't know anything about a Cortina setup. -
https://reno.craigslist.org/pts/d/four-speed-lotus-europa-twin/6528561283.html No relation, no affiliation, FYI only, but in email correspondence from seller, they seem quite anxious to move this out, so i'll bet price could be negotiable. here's the CL link. Appears to be Lotus twin cam with weber carbs and advertised as being for a Europa, however the transmission appears fit for a Seven. good luck if interested. TED TaylorMadeClassicCars

Thanks Mike for the explanation. You could have just as easily said "pay up you cheap B!@#$%^" Taber, Thanks for your kind comments too. I know the (Lotus / Steel Bro / Caterham) issue has been tossed around Lotus forums for years. My understanding is Lotus was pulling out of that market (doing away with the Seven entirely) and both sold on and licensed both Caterham and Steel Bro with the remaining kits/inventory and they built them under license. More importantly, every aspect of those cars are identical to what Lotus produced, exception being the vin/body plate as per government regulation of course. So arguably they are Lotus cars through and through, tip to toe. It is what it is... Picture of VIN plate says it all "Lotus - Steel Bro" so that says it's a Lotus to me. "

Out for a bitter cold ride in the S4 Seven.....and i forgot to wear gloves!!!! those are smiles on our faces though...

Unfortunately, the VB bush they sent is not correct for my application. Ended up making my own bush out of old shock absorber rubber mounts. Works perfectly now. Thanks all.

ended up using a Grant 834 model 11" wheel with some minor modification (cut out square for center hole), this to use original Triumph hub and horn button. Looks great and works perfectly for what i needed it to do - allow my knees to fit underneath to operate pedals. Thanks everyone.

Ian, great tip! thanks! VB actually had it in stock and i ordered online. Of course i'm hoping the Triumph GT6 steering rack is the steering rack i have in my Seven S4 as I've been told. We'll see soon when it arrives. wish me luck!

Does anyone know where I can get the internal bushes on the ends of the tube on my steering rack for my '74 Lotus Seven S4? I believe the rack is Triumph Herald or GT6? The bush at the end of the tube on the steering rack disintegrated and i need to replace. Has anyone rebuilt theirs and can help or direct me to a parts source. Thanks!

Looking to buy for my '74 Lotus Seven S4, an 11" wheel. Moto Lita, Momo, Grant, other? Would prefer original look (black leather rim, aluminum 3-spoke, with center horn button. It should fit a Triumph column and not interfere with turn signal and high beam dip/flash stalks. What have you? price and shipping to NJ USA 08035. Email "tedtaylorsr" at the big "G" mail account. thanks!

what do you mean by "delayed depreciation"? If it can be bought right now for $26K, are you saying once driven, it's only worth $20K or less? please explain.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/111264682395?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT does anyone know about this car? Auction ended without meeting reserve up to $19,400. I'm interested in it. Why didn't it sell or meet reserve? I've seen other Caterhams get $25K or better for the older ones. Is there something wrong with this one? please help with your knowledge or opinions on this car before i reach out to owner. thanks
