1. Thank you Steve. I am not a member there but if someone here is they are more than welcomed to pass along the invitation and link to them! http://superformance.org/caterham/grand_national_show_invitation.pdf
2. I asked Superformance if they could pass along a little more official looking announcement for you guys here, and here it is... "...Superformance has just confirmed 6 spaces available in our display for Caterham Sevens at the Grand National Roadster show and the first 6 owners to contact us will be able to show off their beautiful cars in our display and receive two passes for the event. We apologize for this last minute invite, but would greatly appreciate your participation with us in this wonderful event..." Feel free to download the invitation flyer here... http://superformance.org/caterham/grand_national_show_invitation.pdf
3. I had a chance to talk to Lance Stander of Superformance this morning, the US Caterham distributor. I mentioned to him that Caterham owners here expressed their interest in possibly bringing their cars to an event in show of support. And while the Barrett-Jackson event came up too early to address, Lance is officially inviting you (Caterham owners) to come on up and visit, meet and greet with him... and if you wish, display your car in the Caterham booth at the Grand National roadster Show in Pomona, CA in two weeks! Here is the link. Contact Lance at Superformance.com directly if you are interested. Here is a link to the show... http://www.rodshows.com/gnrs/index.html
4. I asked Lance Stander, CEO of Superformance to do a little video of the Superformance and Caterham display for you guys when he had some time. Here it is. It's just a quick unrehearsed little video of just him walking around and coming up with some kind of narration with his tell tale deep south accent. Lance always comes through when you ask him to do something. hehe... Thought you guys would like this-
5. From just sent a few minutes ago at the Caterham display at Barrett Jackson. Great location for exposure.
6. Here is the inaugural Caterham display set up at Barrett-Jackson next to the Hillbank Motorsports booth. No one is around before the show opens to the public, but if I can get some photos when the crowds are released I will try and post them for you.
7. Just a Superformance owner passing along some chit chat from the Superformance circles and just trying to help out our cousins. No business involved, only fellow owners and just keeping it positive, guys! thanks
8. I'm sure they would, but you half to keep in mind they had no idea they were going a week ago, and the ink is not even dry on the contracts. Give them a little break, here they are trying to get the car promoted ASAP and they are already receiving criticism for not doing the impossible. But I doubt many really realize just how quickly and recently this all came about. so everyone is running around with their hair on fire to do as good as they can. From past history, Superformance as a distributor respects it's dealers and prefers them to do the selling and customer interaction. On the otherhand you will be happy to hear Lance Stander, Superformance CEO is extremely approachable and you could call him at home and he would not mind at all. He is also getting up to speed trying to absorb all the concerns, improvements and advancement opportunities there are to support the Caterham dealers and their customers. It's only been about a week now and he's flying cars in just for this so you can already see the level of commitment, and enthusiasm he has for doing this as good as possible. I am sure once the dust settles and reality onces again sets in, all things will start to fall into place. One side note you may find very interesting... Lance Stander has always loved the Lotus 7 and it's cousins. He still owns a Superformance S1 as does his son, but also agrees the Caterham is the benchmark to compare to. And so this is a little more than just a selling opportunity for him and his family. I would not be surprised if he sets up an open house at some point this year just for the Caterham crowd, although, I suppose he now has no choice if he ever happens to read this.
9. For anyone hoping that the new USA Distributor will increase the exposure of Caterham in the United States, all you have to wait for is this weekend. Superformance is putting up their inaugural Caterham display at the Barrett-Jackson Auction for next week being held in Scottsdale, Arizona. For anyone who has been there you already know the huge amounts of all kinds of people passing through from the average Joe to the rich and famous. Superformance flew in a few of the brand new cars as well as this race car that just arrived in LA airport last night and is on its way to Scottsdale. There will also a few people from Caterham flying in from the UK as well to kick this new era off. Knowing the owner of Superformance, I would not be surprised if he goes out and grabs ahold of a cameraman and drags them over to the Caterham display!
