  1. That would be an excellent thing to do. Good for your karma, also. (or would it be "car-ma?")
  2. Here are a couple of ads from phoenix craigslist This Westfield is for sale by what looks to be the guy that owns one of the MG/Triumph-to-Toyota transmission kit companies (Eaglegate) according to the conact phone number. https://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/5472442308.html Here is an unusual home built 7 https://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/5470122570.html
  3. Found while searching my local craigslist for Lotus: A "special" for those of you that think a Lotus 11 is a wee bit oversized: https://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/5251250629.html
  4. It's funny how people differ, even when you narrow down the category to car guys who want a Lotus 7 clone! The RHD is a major plus for me as I look for a car. ( want as British a version as I can get, and having owned a RHD Morgan, I'd say it is hardly ever an inconvenience on such a small car. The other factors you mentioned in your post are definitely a turn off for me though. I need a car that is close enough for me to trailer it home myself, if not local. Good luck in your hunt !
  5. I totally agree, having a RHD car here in the US myself. In this size car you would only be sitting two feet from where you would sit in a LHD version. LOL !
  6. I don't remember this one being posted recently. "1958 Lotus 7 Mesa , AZ Craigslist http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/4958346173.html
  7. I read your intro thread from last year. It certainly sounded like an ambitious project under the best of conditions ! I had always thought that when I retired, I would attack my car projects without distraction. It turns out that for some folks, that isn't the way it goes, for various reasons. I am contemplating selling projects also. I know a guy that just posted on another car forum about wanting a Healey. I will direct him to your post.
  8. Ad text says its a Westfield. In Mesa AZ. $25000. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/4816415798.html
  9. Interesting. Where did it end up? I am assuming that you are talking about the Eleven project? I had seen a post on Bring-a-Trailer by a person that said that they bought it and that he would update as the project proceeds.
  10. I bet 5 bucks that it shows up on wirewheel.com shortly. Or newenglandclassics.com
  11. Definitely was TVR ( I've owned 3 different models ) . . TVR 2500M ad
  12. If the motor is located somewhere between the front and rear axles; it qualifies as mid-engined ( i.e, could be in front of the rear axle, or behind the front axle.)
  13. \ I assume that such a thing would be a major hassle to import to USA and register? Too far away for me, anyway.
  14. A dirtbag, for sure; but, at least his prey is a wealthy first worlder who wouldn't miss it. Someone who would send $14k to an anonymous person somewhere unknown on the planet in hopes of buying a toy at a discounted price. (That is how this ends up if he hooks a fish). It annoys me because I know that the fish he hopes to land looks just like me and many board members here as far as age, sex, financial assets. I hate to think one of "us" is still naive enough to swallow the hook, line and sinker; but, it isn't impossible, so, these guys keep on fishing. They don't even have to invest in a boat, trailer, truck, tackle or beer for their sport !
  15. That would be a great, subtle reference! http://tinyurl.com/lba2h7m It would be interesting to photoshop it with the 5 black and white stripes also. That would be something I've never seen. Of course, if one did this, then you would also have to think about acquiring a Triumph Spitfire, Ford Mustang, and a Messerschmidtt appropriately painted.
  16. I figured as much, given the price and the fact that the seller of the WCM Ultralite whose ad details were partially copied knows the value of such things and did not mention here that it was for sale. I did a google search on the picture in the craigslist ad and found where the craigslist scammer got his photos from: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191342767206
  17. Yes, per the text below the pictures. Not sure if that is melted valve cover or the engine bay cover melted onto it.
  18. A "berkin" needing some TLC: berkin lotus 7 I can't imagine it ever being put back together.
  19. Your link doesn't work. I suggest that you pare it down to this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281407975500 Good luck with your sale.
  20. I have been considering buying a 7 for many years and looking off and on. This car made me think about it again since it is pictured in my city. Anyway, I never consider a sellers statement that a car is a Lotus 7 or a Cobra 427 or a MG TD as meaning that they were built by the original factory. Replicas, or recreations or continuations are so ubiquitous that folks no longer consider it wrong to refer to their car as to what it looks like. In this case, the distinction is even less clear since it is essentially a Lotus 7 built by Seven Cars Ltd. He did clearly picture the data plate so that it is obvious that it has a "Caterham" VIN number so, I doubt any deception is intended. As far as the Caterham England on the data plate, that is the location of manufacture, not the name of the manufacturer, so, he would also be "wrong" to call it a "Caterham", since that is not the name of the manufacturer either. What did the manufacturer call this car in their sales brochures?
