I've been offline for way too long, but I'm in Bergen County NJ with a 360 S3 with lowered floors. I'm 5'6, about the same size and would stick with the S3 if I had to do it over again. The car looks fantastic. If you live in NJ and are considering a Caterham, having one already legally registered in the state is a rare opportunity.

Sorry for the confusion guys, my original post was intended to be more of an FYI to anyone down the line looking for ideas in case they had to come up with DOT/SAE markings on the lighting. The inspector was looking for the specific DOT/SAE markings and it ended up being acceptable, so I wanted to pass it along.

The test was for NJ reconstruction/specialty vehicle inspection. Functionality needed to be there, but the DOT/SAE markings on the lenses is what they wanted to see.

One of the requirements I had for passing the state's safety inspection was DOT/SAE lighting all the way around. DOT headlights that fit the buckets and side markers weren't too bad, but coming up with parking lights, turn signals and rear lighting took a bit of sorting. The inspector needed DOT/SAE lenses on all lights. All easily reversible. -Parking/Turn Signals - from a Jeep CJ7, fit into an aluminum sleeve - Trailer lights from a truck stop, mounted to an aluminum plate that fit the Caterham rubber rear light block. Ok, got it all sorted. I dropped the ignition and pulled off the black back cover and pulled the Black/Red wire off #50 on the back of the terminal. I connected this wire through a micro-switch and back to the #50 spot on the ignition switch (blue wire in the photo). This Black/Red wire is only "hot" in the temporary start position. The micro-switch is from a NOS nitrous set up that came with a bracket. When the clutch is depressed, it triggers the switch and completes the circuit.

thanks for the suggestions. Driven - how would you go about grounding the starter relay itself? Daniel - yeah, I'm not a fan either, the state is requiring I have one to pass inspection Joe - that's a real interesting possibility, but I already have a switch in place, so now it's just the wiring and I think the gearbox switch will have me going through the same wiring exercise I'll try the wire that should go to the starter solenoid from the ignition, it should only be "hot" when trying to start it. It's tough to see, let alone get to it. It looks like there are two white light gauge wires joining together attaching to the solenoid. I'll spend some time with a test light this weekend.

I'm working through my punch list for inspection on a 2014 360. One of the items I need to add is a clutch safety switch. I have the switch location figured out, but I still need to wire it up. Any thoughts on a clean way to wire it? Doing some research, it seems like the Black/Red wire on terminal “50” on the back of the ignition switch should be the connection to the starter relay. I'm not an electrical wiz, so thought I'd check before I go cutting wires ...

Hi - just a quick intro from New Jersey. After a bit of lurking and a lot of searches, I've picked up a 2014 Caterham 360. Tony from LOONY, mrmustang and Ron in NJ have been very helpful in the beginning of my Seven ownership journey. I'm working through the NJ registration process currently and from all the searches, it sounds like there are some hurdles. I'd love to connect and chat with anyone in NJ who may have gone throught the process recently, may have some words of wisdom, encouragement or warnings about the process.
