If for some reason the sale falls through, I will get in contact with you.

The car is sold
-
Hi All, Yes, that was/is my listing. I put my car up for sale because I haven't been activity driving it since I purchased an English motorcycle not long ago. The Brits make some nice toys. I've attached a couple pictures, the car is a blast to drive and I hate to sell it but know someone will find joy in owning and driving it. Regards, Scott K Southern California

Thanks for the input, I was able to remove the broken piece of spark plug with a flat head screw driver and my finger tips.... I dont think any of the porceline fell into the combustion chamber.... I fired up the motor after putting a new set of plug in and everything sounds okay.
-
I need some advise before I do more work then needed. I own a crossflow powered Caterham 7, this morning I was cleaning and reinstalling my spark plugs when one of the plugs broke off at the threads leaving the threaded portion only and what is left of the porcelain stuck in the head and flush with the top of the spark plug hole. Do I need to remove the head to get the remains of the plug removed or can I use a drill to remove the rest of the porcelain and an easy out to remove the threaded portion of the remains of the spark plug? Thanks, Scott Los Angeles

Here is a website that deals with a lot of crossflow parts. A lot of Formula Ford guys buy their part through them. http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/home.asp

As a point of reference in fitting a Caterham 7. I'm 6'3" and 205 lbs. size 12 feet, I own a DeDeon Caterham 7 and it's a snug fit but when it comes to taking high speed turns on the track or doing some canyon runs in the local mountain it's really nice to have a tight fit. I suspect the Caterham and Westfields will have the best resale value of most 7 or replica 7 available.

Here is an updated list of Jets: Idle Jets: 4 55f8, 4 55f6, 4 60f8, 2 50f9, 4 70f8, 4 50f6, 4 60f2, 2 55f2 Main Jets: 4 110, 4 120, 2 115, 2 135 Air Jets: 4 190, 4 210, 4 215, 2 200, 2 175 Emulsion Tube: 2 F11, 2 F15 Main Chokes: 4 34's, 2 31's, 2 30's Most of the jets have never been used. I'm selling the jets that I ended up not needing for my car, as you can see, in the "Jet-Pac" sets that Redline Weber sells, there is a wide variety of combinations. I'm asking $5 per jet (I paid $6.50 or more per jet) with the exception of the Emulsion Tube and Main Chokes. The Emulsion Tube, I'm asking $7 each The Main Chokes, I'm asking $10 each

I saw your message and have replied.

Here is a list of Jet from the Jet-Pac I purchased last year from Redline Weber in Southern California: Idle Jets 55f8, 60f8, 65f8, 70f8 Main Jets 110, 120, 125, 130 Air Jets 190, 210, 215 I have other misc jets, but will have to wait until daylight read the numbers stamped on them. Yes thanks a list of what you have would be great. We think she's running a bit rich right now and want to play around with the jets when warm weather is here, and it would probably be good to have a few to screw up on those odd altitude days. esp looking for 120 mains, and 45 f9 idle jets, but others might be welcome. right now we have 180 main airs, 125 mains and 50 idle's which are within spec for a 1600 x-flow anyways...but..cant hurt to play around.[/quote

The HP rating is based on the build specs from RMSCI, John WIlcox Competitive Engines and other engine builders from the UK.... though I may have misstated the octane requirements.
-
Yeah, he built it to proper tolerances. I decided to go the extra step and have some balance work completed. It's been a great motor, very reliable.
-
With regards to the Jets, yes I can sell them seperately.... let me know if you'd like a list of jets available.... unless you already know what you're looking for? The original builder of the motor was former Caterham dealer in Southern California.... I've since had the piston rods balanced by a local shop and the carbs and timing tuned by Morgan West in Santa Monica, California. The original date built was October 2006, the first time used was August 2007. The dry sump system, including all steel braided hoses with Earls aluminum connectors and 2 gallon tank is included. If interested I'll include the flywheel and clutch assembly with the motor. The Lucas starter has been rebuilt and the bendix drive has been matched to the flywheel.

I'm considering selling my 1700 HP Crossflow motor approximate HP with premium 92 octane 145 and upgrading to either a Duratec or Zetec motor after driving a local car with a twin cam Zetec. The details of the motor are as follows: 1700cc 711m Block The heads intake and exhaust ports were polished professionally, bench flowed for accuracy. The block and head have been pressure tested and mag'd and come back tight and clean. Compression averages between 145 and 155 for all 4 cylinders 244 Kent Cam 2x40 DCOE sidedraught carbs - all jets and chokes match. Lotus-Holbay valve cover Balanced rods and crank Dry Sump Oil system w/ custom 2 gallon tank 4x1 Headers and High flow exhaust system Single wire 100 amp alternator Lucas - Pertronix distributor w/ 8mm wires w/ Lucas coil Lucas starter, fully rebuilt with a heat shield so it starts even when hot. 135 tooth lightened flywheel with fresh clutch and pressure plate. The motor is fresh, less then 200 miles street driving time no track time. If I decide to sell the motor, the asking price with the dry sump system will be $6,500 without dry sump system the asking price is $5,500. The transmission is not included. The motor is very strong, tight and fast. The carbs are balance, the timing is set at 8 degrees advance.

The Duratec motor is a little bigger then the Zetec.... One big difference between the motors, the duratecs exhaust system exits out the right side of the car and that makes the throttle body on the left side and depending what type of induction system used will depend on clearance.... From what I've seen in the cars with Cosworth Motors there isnt a big issue with clearances, though the motor mounts have to be fabricated. There is a lot of information out there for mapping the ECU.... I know someone in Los Angeles with a Cosworth (Duratec) that puts out over 260hp.... the car is very fast.
-
I've seen a Duratec and Cosworth motor installed in the standard chassis, they were set up with either shallow oil pans or a dry sump oil system. The SV chassis is wider by a few inches, so I think the clearances work. Contact Rocky Mountain Sports Cars, they have an engine program which includes several motor configurations.

Hi, I recently took my car out for a short drive and under 1/4 to 1/2 throttle application the motor stubbles. The configuration of the motor is: 1700 Crossflow, 244 Kent Cam, 4 - 1 headers, dual 40 DCOE carbs, Dry Sump oil system, Pertronix Distributor. I have a 4-6 psi Facet fuel pump with a pressure regulator set at 3 psi Does the stubbling acceleration come from a lack of fuel or the timing being off?

Just got my alternator back from the shop, reinstalled it and so far it appears the battery problem was an alternator problem.... I'm going to take my car for a short drive and see if the battery retains it's starting power. Thanks for all the help. Scott
