  1. Great idea, I’ll try that out tomorrow!
  2. I have been trying to source the keys for the center caps for my SLR wheels. I wanted to try and go the proper route just in case the keys could be sourced. Now I will be making my own key as suggested. The reason for this post is to clear up some contradicting information about the manufacturer of the SLR wheels. I have read a couple places that the SLR wheels are MB Wheels, and that is incorrect. They also are not Image Wheels LTD. Please see the attached screenshots from both of these wheel manufacturers that I received today.
  3. Maybe this information is already out there, and I missed it but I wanted to post some pictures and info of my Caterham on a 2 post lift. First, I want to be clear that I was not alone when we placed the car on the lift. I felt that it was highly important to make sure to have another person there to watch and listen as we got it right. We made sure to be very careful about this process. There were minor adjustments made to keep the arms from rubbing on the rear tires after the first attempt. With this particular lift I needed the plywood under the front tires for a touch of height to start. The pads holding up the front of the car needed small height extensions(nothing in the rear), and the wood in the front was added to clear the side exhaust and not apply any pressure on it.

  4. Thanks for the help everyone! I will be trying a couple of these methods in the next few days. Yes the nose, and wings are both carbon fiber. This particular car was built by Mid-Atlantic Caterham in DE. From what looks like the final assembly inspection pictures the car did not get assembled with the spare tire but you can see the holder for license plate, license plate light, and spare tire cradle can be seen. I am wondering if this is the first SLR for the US in 2001 as the order form shows the initial date of January 18th 2001. Can anyone confirm that the 5 speed transmissions are Mazda transmissions? Looking for info to drain(side of tunnel maybe?) and refill. Thanks again everyone!
  5. I am definitely not as familiar with the Ford world as I am with the Honda world. Although I feel like this not going to be far off. Another reason that I am looking for a workshop manual for this motor is because I am heavily considering replacing the timing belt now as well while doing the reconditioning. Next job is getting the old gas out. Man that panel above the tank was a real pain! Thanks Vovchandr! I will definitely let you know if I consider selling them.
  6. Yes I was thinking about using putty, or clay to make a mold, and go from there. A proper key would be nice if it can be sourced. Very good call on the replacement option! I'll look into that. Thanks MV8!
  7. Thanks Vovchandr! Oh yeah tires were the first thing I sourced even prior to purchasing the car. I’m definitely not trying to risk it with those 21+ year old tires. Now I am trying to get a manual for this particular Ford motor. Yes, I am currently in search to find the special key to get the center caps off. Any suggestions on where to find the key? I plan on cleaning the wheels, keep them and get a second set of wheels for the track.
  8. Yes indeed! I have a very busy Sept planned but I hope to be driving it by Oct. I can't wait to take it to Little Switzerland as well. IMG_3387.HEIC IMG_3389.HEIC
  9. Greetings Everyone, I have been checking out USA7s(mostly classifieds) for about 5-6 years, and now as of this week I have a reason to sign up, and make a post. I recently sold my 2018 Honda Civic Type R, and the only thing on my radar was a Caterham. I didn't go looking for one right away, but about 2-3 weeks after selling my CTR, I came across a 'barn find". Now usually I think of a barn find as being a car from the '40's or '50's up to the '70's. I was tipped off at a local car show about someone wanting to sell a Caterham with "no miles on it". So I took down the info and figured I would go check it out at some point. A few weeks later I got in touch with the owner and set up a day & time to go look at the car. When I went to go see the Cat it was in a very full garage surrounded by years, and years of hoarding. The owner said that the car was a 2001 and had been sitting in the same spot since 2004. It was quite dusty, and a lot of the aluminum seemed a bit dull. I made a few mental notes about the car that stuck out to me, the carbon dash being the main takeaway, this was enough proof to me this was a fairly modern Cat. I went back a few days later to roll the car out of the garage, see it in the daylight, and hook up power to see the odometer reading, and yes less than 900 total miles! I could not locate the Caterham plate with the stamped chassis number upon this first or second visit. After going home, and researching where it might be, it was found under the pedal box, and the plate was still in the plastic was never fixed to the car. I reached out to a friend who has a Cat and he gave me some information to get in touch with Josh at Rocky Mountain Caterham. Josh has been super helpful with breaking down the chassis number and getting more information including contact info for a gentleman in the UK that emailed me a copy of the original order form for the car in Jan 2001. And there it was a 2001 Superlight R right on the paperwork. As of Tuesday I am now the proud new owner of what I believe is to be a fairly rare Cat, and especially for the US. I picked the car up on Friday and got started working on Saturday. I am excited to start the process of reconditioning the car to put it on the road to enjoy! All that being said I already have a question regarding the SLR 5 spoke JPE wheels. Does anyone know where to source the key for the JPE wheels to gain access to the lugs? Thank you in advance and I hope to meet some of you at upcoming meets and drives!
