  1. I've always been attracted to T-Bucket and other Roadster type cars but much preferred the modernized Lotus designs. Sorta like comparing outhouses to toilets. But alls well that ends well in the auction. I got a chance to examine and test drive what was to me a rocketship in like new condition and maybe someday another one will come up for sale less than a mile away and either be cheaper or I will have a lot more money. The V8 stalkers are very impressive but I cant help to think that their weight distribution spoils the go-kart handling much like the 427 Cobras. I could feel some front heaviness in the V6 Super Stalker compared to the Alfa-Romeos I autocrossed years ago.
  2. I test drove a Stalker on Hemmings auctions yesterday and found the driving to be unpleasant due to the effort to turn the steering wheel. I realize there are gear ratios and geometries involved with the steering boxes and connections to the spindles.... so it is possible to change the ratios or geometries of steering systems to get less wheel movement per movement of the steering wheel ? You wouldnt think a 1600ish pound vehicle could take much effort to steer but I think that the increased difficulty to steer could affect the quickness of recovery from a power slide for instance. I believe this is one of the reasons the owner is selling the car as he has acquired other sports cars to do his recreational driving in since he acquired the SuperStalker. Could the steering components used also be from the Chevy S-10 pickup?
  3. That race up pikes peak is the most amazing scary driving video I have ever seen in my life ! There is absolutely no question that there are hundreds of opportunities to fly off the mtn into space and to your certain death. The fastest vehicle I would take up that course would be my Sears riding lawnmower. Seriously, I thought I heard about a year ago after one or two guys died at pikes peak that they were shutting it down???.
  4. I know, I wouldn't believe it if someone told me. I feel silly even reporting this. The back side of the differential has a flat plate with ten or fourteen bolts around the perimeter. The front side of the differential of course is taken up with the drive shaft inputs. That leaves the top of the diff -casting of which felt totally smooth. The vehicle has only 300 mi since assembly (5 years) which I attribute to overheating so there has been no urgent need for an owner to check the diff fluid levels. I will try to find a Chevy S-10 forum somewhere and ask about their diffs. Otherwise, I imagine you could cut a quarter inch thick steel plate and weld it onto the diff cover after drilling and threading it for a drain plug.
  5. How the heck do you put gear lube into (or check) the differential ? So today I jacked up an approx 2005 SuperStalker and crawled under to inspect the rear axle. There was not only no drain plug ( which I am familiar with) but there was NO filler plug or screww hole that I could find either. Maybe this is an IQ test for prospective owners? On the top of the differential where I could not see, I reached around and used the braille method. Supposedly this would have been the rear axle from a Chevy S-10 from the 90s ...... After I crawled out from under, the owner went under to check for himself and was kind of flustered as well.
  6. Steve- this stalker has build documentation beginning 2004 but was completed in 2018 "apparently" the photos are in Hemmings Auction online. Tomorrow (Friday) is auction sale date. search for "Stalker" I have determined it will cost $800 to refurbish the blower if needed. This car is in storage just one mile from my house and I am going to look at it. I wont drive it hard, I did my racing 30 years ago. If it would run well, I would probably take the belt off the supercharger most of the time. I want to check the fit and comfort and find out about the rear axle and steering etc. If you at your computer, send me an email address and I can send more photos. Scott 678-290-0507
  7. I was trying to determine what the break chassis number would be between the older Chevy S10 suspension stalkers and the newer independent suspension Stalkers ? ? ?
  8. It would be nice if with all the posted messages, the year was shown as well as the month and day. Why in the world would the year info be excluded ?
  9. I am considering a local purchase of a Super Stalker kit that was acquired in about 2004. based in the wikipedia summary of the company I am concerned that this example may still be using some of the Chevy S10 components ( I dont know what they were ) and also perhaps using an early series 1 or series II GM supercharged 3.8 liter motor. I am normally 100 percent against super and turbo chargers as I feel they are expensive and difficult maintainence (expensive) items but I dont get to choose the deals that cross my path. The last best version of the 3.8 motor was sold in 2008 so I wonder if I had the earlier version motor if I could even find and acquire the supercharger related or fuel or ignition components I would need when things break. Too bad the Brunton company went bankrupt a couple of years ago as it would be nice to contact the technical authorities regarding what they sold and how to repair or replace items as they fail. With this message I am trying to guage the level of risk I would be taking if I acquired this vehicle. Unfortunately there was a good website for the Stalker cars but with the demise of the company the website is now closed to new messages since about 2018. It would be terrific if this website had a special section for just the Stalker owners.
  10. Comley- It has been about 4 years since your last update, Did you finish with the GM V6 in your Stalker ? What is your opinion of that motor in the Stalker as I am considering purchase of unfinished Brunton kit with that motor but with a supercharger as well. If I had a choice I would go with the super charger but I think the donor car had the super charger version so that is what I am looking at. ? ? ? Would like your opinion. Would you consider the GM V6 with the super charger option to be "heavy" for the vehicle thereby affecting handling by causing car to be be front heavy ..... or was Brunton able to properly design around the larger engines in their kits ?
