Great info. Thank-you. It is a mechanical fuel pump. I find I have fuel residue on my fender which needs wiping off after every drive. I am going to try some fuel treatment first to see if that helps (as the car had not been driven much) and next a carb rebuild with attention to the floats. If that doesn’t work fuel pressure regulator would be the next step. Thought you might enjoy this painting by a guy in West Seattle, Tom Constantini

Have finally completed the first round of maintenance/repairs and have been doing some short drives. My wife had to tow me home from drive number 3, fuel issues. Since then I tweaked the carbs a bit and haven’t had the car quit on me since but the carbs need a rebuild with perhaps the addition of a fuel pressure regulator. Suggestions on who to get the parts from is appreciated. It’s a 1700 Crossflow. Took a friend out for a spin over the weekend. I believe he was terrified for most of the ride; said it was fun but preferred his 2005 Corvette. This coming week an old motorcycle riding buddy is coming to visit with his wife. We’ll see what they think!

Hmmmm ……perhaps that is also the nexus to the Prisoner TV series. An equally puzzling creation. You may be on to something

I have been in communication with Caterham regarding the car and Martin has been exceptionally helpful. He has been able to confirm the car is #42 of 47 Prisoner edition cars. The kit was delivered to the US in the summer of 94 and the engine and transmission were supplied by Caterham in early 1995. It’s nice to have a bit of history on the car. I was also able to get the build sheet and some shipping info as well. The folks at Caterham are fantastic. The only remaining mystery is how I ended up with a Prisoner Edition plaque numbered 14 rather than 42.

I like the yellow nose but unfortunately I don’t know the name of the color. I believe the color scheme was Prisoner specific so perhaps Caterham can tell you what yellow they used for the Prisoner edition cars.

Spark plug clearance
Columbiacaterham replied to Columbiacaterham's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Thanks. I will take a look at that plug. Part of the reason to consider the BPR7ES was to go a heat range hotter. -
Columbiacaterham started following new owner looking for gatherings , Spark plug clearance , How many miles did you drive this year? and 1 other

Newbie question. I have an early nineties 1700 crossflow. Plugs could stand replacement. B8EC S stock plugs aren’t readily available but I found a set of BPR7ES that some suggest are a good replacement option. However when I lay them next to each other I noticed that the 7ECS plug tip extends farther than the 8ECS. (See photo). If I install these will I have a clearance problem? Thanks.

How many miles did you drive this year?
Columbiacaterham replied to Vovchandr's topic in General Sevens Discussion
theDreamer. Your car should be great fun! I followed a number of BAT auction like you but was never willing to hang in there till the end. Glad to see you ended up with a nice Seven. Perseverance paid off! My car has the engine I was looking for (once I decided I didn’t have the resources for a new kit) and the standard chassis is a good fit now that I have found some narrow shoes! The fact the car is #42 of 47 Prisoner edition cars is a bonus and should make for good conversations at the local car shows. -
How many miles did you drive this year?

Newly purchased Seven had one owner, about 3500 miles in 30 years so about 115 miles per year. I have rolled it from the delivery truck to the garage since receipt. It needs tires, some suspension and clutch work, fresh fluids and a general going over and should be ready by spring to start rolling up the miles! I am hoping to put on at least 2000 this coming year. -
The Prisoner was safely delivered a couple of nights ago. The transaction was a smooth one and the car looks great. Looking forward to warm weather!

Hello all. Hoping to receive my Prisoner Caterham sometime this month and looking forward to meeting other Lotus/Caterham owners in the year to come. We live in E. Washington, near Chelan. Interested in hearing from anyone in the area or heading to events in Washington this coming year. Thanks.

FYI, Found a great car so no longer on the hunt!

Thanks for the suggestion. I was hoping to find a local owner that might be starting to consider a sale. I did look at the summary and found it a little difficult to identify the most current/new listings.
