  1. previous owner attached JAL multiple LED lamp ( https://justaddlightness.co.uk/product/caterham-7-high-level-led-third-brake-light/ )to top of roll bar. fortunately it displays high enough and fits perfectly within the window of the half hood. i prefer the integrated look of the CaterLED's but not sufficient incentive to swap out just yet.
  2. Ordered the LED rear tail lamp kit from Just Add Lightness, https://justaddlightness.co.uk/product/caterham-7-rear-light-cluster-led-upgrade-kit/ , considering upgrade to CF dash as previous owner attached an ownership plaque to the dash and after it was removed the faded dash highlights the rectangular area where the plaque was. Haven't considered any power upgrades as the car was modified when i purchased it and move very quickly and responsively.
  3. https://www.7cars.ca/PDFS/08SV-R 210.pdf Here is the link to what they offered, pretty much describes my car with the exception of a 1.6 Sigma engine vs 2.0 Duratec. Looks like a complete "Caterham" car to me
  4. Ha! the last example to published was from my car...number .....28. I believe it was the last one built.
  5. There are folks on the Caterham Canada facebook group that have imported complete cars. One is in progress as i write this. i was referencing bringing in a kit to be assembled in Canada. from my recollection in calls with Terry Johns, as long as the frame doesn't have a VIN then its just a bunch of parts as opposed to a kit to be assembled. Maybe the folks in the US who import kits might know something but in the end it's a mugs game dealing with Transport Canada and documentation is everything.
  6. My understanding but i cannot confirm as i did not go this route is that any chassis that has a number (as in the factory number from Caterham) is considered a non starter from transport Canada's perspective unless it is over 15 years old. My car was built by the folks in BC and has no Caterham number on the attached plate, only an assigned VIN from the province of BC. When I inquired with Caterham about ordering a chassis without an assigned number from the factory they stated that it was not possible to do that. Whether someone with a connection or history with the factory is/was able to make that happen is an open question as they don't appear to be in business any more.
  7. The car finally arrived and i have been putting seat time in. Next to no stalling and smooth takeoffs. Almost there. Getting used to the sound/feel of direct shifting and backing off the gas pedal. It just soooo different from my '90 Miata.
  8. theDreamer, Sorry i missed the PM. I have been overwhelmingly busy with renovation projects and the SV landed right in the middle. i went out to see the car last week and drive it. i have pieced together the story based upon conversations with Jacqueline and looking through the boxes left by her uncle. I purchased the car and am now in the process of arranging shipping to Ottawa. You are in Ontario, where do you put the front plate?
  9. Thanks for all the perspectives. since i have been looking for one of these for a very long time, i opted to go for it and figure it out rather than keep looking for the perfect car. This one has almost everything i could ask for and its located in Canada which makes it a rare find.
  10. Xhilr8n, how long did it take to get used to the lightened flywheel set-up? Sounds exactly what i was experiencing. compared to my Miata, this was worlds apart. i was definitely tapering the clutch when starting up and backing up.
  11. Thanks for your timely response, very helpful. It is a "sigma" engine. i figured there had to be a diverter for the heater, but unsure of location. The vibrations were more pronounced when driving, and their was no vibration through the steering wheel at any time. I suspect the tune is the issue and unsure why a replacement ECU was installed. Unfortunately the owner is not available to provide some background.
  12. Test drove an 2016 SV for sale...first drive in a Caterham. Car has aftermarket ECU, lightened flywheel, 150+ HP claimed. Four observations made: 1. Car had difficulty idling when started. Often stalled when coasting to a stop, even after warmed up. 2. Vibration through the car up to 3000 RPM then disappeared. 3. Hot air coming through the heater when driving even when the fan motor not switched on. 4. Difficulty engaging clutch and keeping the revs high enough to avoiding stalling the car when taking off. Any perspective on these items would be appreciated.
