  1. Well Bruce, I've been demonstrating to my wife for many years that I'm a low energy person. Now would not be the time to "raise the bar."
  2. 1. Change oil and filter 2. Vacuum gravel from floor pan. 3. Ready for spring
  3. You may want to rethink the no windshield idea. You'll do fine until the first CT police officer sees you..then the trouble begins. Aside from being illegal, have you ever had a stone bounce off your windshield? Stones bouncing off your head are much worse. Just a thought, Doug
  4. CT issues two plates, both are required to be displayed. While I don't believe you would ever be stopped solely for not having a front plate, I do know somebody that got stopped for a seat belt violation and "where's your front plate, sir?"....he was fined for both. Why aggrevate the police if you don't have to. I made a front bracket from polycarbonate sheet, which mounts to the underside of the nose. It's mounted low to remind me that the sump is about 3 inches off the ground. If I hit the license plate the sump is next. Doug
  5. Bruce, Paul, Check email...planning local get together, have 3 confirmed. Doug
  6. Well Dean, I have trouble enough remembering today's date much less a four digit number from the late seventies. I'm not too sentimental about the old car. Given the choice between tracking down my old series 2 (if it still exists) or my recent Caterham, I'll take the Caterham, the series 2 was a back breaker.
  7. Paul, Not as easy as what I went through, but I suppose it's the results that count. A couple days ago I posted a little history on my sevens, old and new along with a couple pictures in the "tell us about yourself" section. If you or Bruce would like to get together some weekend for diner food in a neutral town to swap stories, please let me know. Never met Bruce, but Wolcott is just up line from me and Old Greenwich about the same distance southwest on I95. Doug
  8. Hi to all, Doug from outskirts of New Haven, CT and new to the forum. I've been a seven fan since I was a teenager. As a misguided youth I had a series 2 car, which was pretty much my daily driver. My parents just shook their heads thinking I would grow out of it. I kept it for about 5 years until I had to buy a real car. I recall when the car was sold I got the princely sum of $3200, wow. Now as a misguided sort of adult, 30 years later and 3 children mostly out of the house, I thought it was time to buy another. In the spring I picked up a 99 dedion from Sevens and Elans, whom I would recommend if you're looking. I go out for short rides just about every night, just to clear the cobwebs. The Caterham rides like a Cadillac compared to my old series 2 car. My parents still shake their heads thinking I'll grow out of it...I don't think so. 9. Bruce, I would have thought CT DMV treats all state titles as equal....maybe not. Perhaps they view NY and MA as "friendly" neighbors. MI (your title) was on the "UNION" side in the civil war...right? Doug
  10. New to the forum, but maybe I can help on this. I registered a Caterham in CT in April of this year. Being a kit car, CT considers these "composite vehicles". If your car is titled, you won't need to go through a composite vehicle inspection, just a VIN check. I had a NY title and know of another Caterham in the Hartford area that had a MA title; no inspection. CT makes it pretty easy. You are also exempt from emissions. Hope that helps.
