This is very fairly priced so pls don't write offering $5K from accross the country after telling me how smart you are and how crappy my Rotus is. The paint is faded and the original owners wife bent the hood slightly but 2 Dzus fasteners would fix it and would be a good idea anyway. It backfires out the exhaust w/ a very very knowledgeable race buddy says could mean very rich running. That might explain why it happens more when warm. Backfiring out the carbs would be more likely an ignition/electrical issue. The carbs did have some rust scale in the strainers from and I'll check the sparkler pluggies for color. The Summit Racing tech support guy said to go w/ the digital ignition module, and the requisite heavier plug wires and coil. I might to that anyway just to be modern.

I now own the 3rd Rotus built ('84) and it has a 1600 CC twin cam engine. I'm having a very hard time figuring out what year and model car the 1600 twin cam engine came from. The engine number on the block is: 3T 5283017. The local Toyota Dealer wasn't able to help me. Also the car stumbles and backfires badly as soon as it warms up. I replaced the ground cables and there was a very slight improvement. I have a new coil and will install that asap. Anybody have any other ideas? What about putting on an MSD ignition or something similar? Dan Owens Durham NC

It might be good business to offer a similar top to Caterham and Lotus owners since that's bound to be a much larger group hence more production/lower cost etc etc
