I was talking to somebody online who said that he knew what those bumps were for. He explained to me those bumps were for removing heat from the engine bay. And that they were against scca rules because of some rule changes and that he was involved with the rule changes. Beyond that I don't actually know I'm just saying what somebody else told me. Yes the other two bumps are to clear the carburetors

I believe the rear end was swapped out for a Ford rear end. The car has the original fenders with it they're in disrepair. There's also a roll bar, it's just not currently on the vehicle, and there's also the frame for the canopy. The two bumps on the hood came from one of the guys that made the rules for the scca back in the sixties. I have not asked his advice yet, but he provided me with a bunch of details and all the numbers match. I also found three other cars almost the exact same serial number and all of them have the same plate and same font. One I know for 100% fact is factory original. The others probably are also but there's not a clear ownership trail from the beginning of time. I'm pretty sure no matter what I'm going to buy the car. I saw the exhaust today, it's pretty bad. But the cylinder head looks great. And is currently at an engine machine shop getting refreshed by the brother of who I bought it from. He's actually the head guy, and specializes in machining vintage engines. I have confirmed the car was shipped into America white and brush aluminum. I've never seen another one in that paint scheme before but I guess it was popular back then. Seems like most of them have been repainted at this point in time.

No it was shipped as an assembled car, but it might have been titled as a 64/65 I do not know. As of now we can't track down the original title and the original owner has long since passed away. We don't even know if there was ever an actual title or not the year might have been a mistake passed along by the previous owner to me

Joe. Thanks for all the information. So far I can't claim any racing heritage or pedigree, there are stickers on the trunk but we literally don't know the previous owner. There's a bunch of stuff that went into that. One of the racing enthusiasts told me the bumps were designed to mitigate heat. And that this was something that was done but it violated certain race class rules so very few people did it..... How true that is I don't know but it came from one of the prominent scca guys. Mike Ostrov I believe but don't quote me on that. At this point I'm waiting to hear back from john. I hope all goes well. The biggest issue I have now is that I don't know if there was ever a title. Usually if there's a title Colorado stamps their own number on the car. And we don't see one. So I don't know if there's a title or if there's not. That's the first hurdle. I believe the two on the hood are definitely to clear the carburetors. The two domes on the bonnet I've been told are aftermarket and they were to help mitigate heat. But very few cars had them because they violated whatever the group racing rules that car was classified as. They were definitely added by the owner not factory original. As to the bumper and the mirror I believe they probably were intending it for Street use and that is required in the state of Colorado.

Want to go see the car next week I will take a whole bunch of pictures. The engine in the car is a 1275cc currently. I'm not sure what history the previous owner has? But I'll get a bunch of pictures and try to solve some of these puzzles.

Definitely appreciate all the advice. I'm just not willing to invest the little money I have into a clone. That money could be better spent on other projects. That's why I'm trying to make sure all my ducks are a row before I buy it. The owner knows this also.

That's weird? That's exactly the same person that's selling me the car. A mechanical engineer with a masters in material sciences... Not joking. Weird world. His brother is the one rebuilding the head so I'm assuming it's being taken care of correctly. But I'll ask. Thank you for the advice.

I will get a bunch more pictures next week when I actually physically go look at the car. The car technically is not for sale, the only reason the owner is thinking about partying with it is because I'm a friend of the family. I'm just trying to get all my ducks in a row before I spend a bunch of money that I'll regret.

It's going to be a lot of elbow grease. The head is currently at a machine shop getting refreshed. Engine cylinders look good from what the seller says. It wasn't really for sale when I found it. Family friend kind of deal.
