  2. Thanks for posting the photos Chris. Some good shots of some colourful cars. They make a parking lot of ordinary cars look boring. Ron
  3. Sevenfest 2011 Open to Sevens of all types All other types of Lotus become honorary Sevens for the day and are welcome Reminder: if you haven’t already let me know if you’re attending email me at: ronpayne7 at gmail dot com Update: I have obtained, at great personal expense, the recipe for the PNEs world famous caramelized fried onions. This was obtained by much personal groveling. The gourmet hotdogs will be accompanied by generous portions of carmalized onions, but only to those who let me know ahead of time that they’re attending. : A writer from Kitcar magazine is attending. Anyone having 7 related items that they want to sell can bring them, I’ll set up a table if needed. Local newspapers will be contacted. If you have a card for your windshield that gives some basic details of the type of 7 it is, bring it. Pray for sunshine When: July 9th, 2011 Where: 2298 Chapman Way, North Van., BC Time: Nominally the start time is 11:00 am but if you show up early that’s OK The first two hours are “meet and greet”, have a hot dog etc., and have a little “show n’ shine” for the public. No charge for the lunch. Bring other munchies if you like. The drive starts at 1:00 pm. It’s a scenic route with a couple of photo ops. I was considering naming the drive part “Under the Volcano” Anyone figuring out why gets the first hot dog. A fun part will be visiting beautiful downtown Deep Cove, our own version of Carmel-by-the-Sea. One road in to a round about and then out the same road. The street is lined with sidewalk cafes and tourists. Should be lots of smiling, waving and photos. We then head up Mt. Seymour to the lookout for a final photo op. Ron

  5. I sent out the one month reminder today for Sevenfest 2011. If you're interested in attending let me know and I'll send you further info. Ron
  6. This is a special invitation to all US 7s within driving distance of Vancouver, BC Sevenfest 2011 is being held on Saturday, July 9th and you're invited. See the write-up in the "Canada" section. For those of you who think Vancouver's too far away, last summer we had a 7 from Alberta, the equivalent of driving from Northern CA, and one from Kelowna, the equivalent of driving from Portland. The Kelowna 7 made the return trip the same day. So just because there's that border there, don't let it stop you for coming up and enjoying some Canadian hospitality. Ron
  7. The date for Sevenfest 2011 is Saturday July 9th. The location is 2298 Chapman Way, North Vancouver, BC, V7H 1W1 The arrival and start time are flexible, anytime after 9:00am. The official start time is 11:00am. The agenda: The first part is intended to be a car show with a chance for members of the public to come by and see the cars as well as a chance for the 7 owners to mingle and look at other cars. During this time hot dogs and snacks will be served. At 1:00pm we will head off on scenic roads well suited to our cars. It's a fun route with lots of photo op time for the cars underway. If you're not on the "BC Sevens" list, contact me and I'll add you. The purpose of the list is to be able to contact 7 owners for this type of event, now and for future events. Ron
  8. Chris, if guys can drive all the way from Alberta and Kelowna to North Van. you can catch a 20 mile ferry ride to get here:) Seriously, I'm hoping to get a few cars from South of the border also and this area is more central for them. So I'm up for hosting "Sevenfest 2011" and after that it'll be someone else's turn. I was thinking that for the Vancouver area people it would be a nice chance for a group drive up to sunny, warm Kelowna, possibly by way of the Duffy lake road. That is if by any chance anyone in Kelowna who happens to own a 7 might volunteer to host an event the next year. If the first event is held in the first two weeks of July then maybe a jaunt to Kelowna in mid-August might be a possibility as a second event in the same year. I'll put out a request for preference for dates etc. early in the new year. To second Steve's comments, yeah, a 7 is a 7. We also allow 11's to be substituted and next year I'm hoping our special "7 for a day" will be "Airframe Fixers" mid-engine BEC. Ron
  9. B2, send me your email and I'll add you to the Sevens list. ronpayne at telus dot net Glad to see you're thinking of the next event Steve. I've learned a bit from hosting the "First annual..." so I'll do some things a little differently next year. "Sevenfest 2011" I've got a route planned for the group drive, more local but still involves a mountain to climb. One thing I want to do is track down some Lotus 7 owners. I'm not sure what's with the Lotus owners group locally or even if they still exist but I'll be making an effort to invite them for the next event. I think I'll start asking for opinions on a suitable date early in the new year. Anyone whose not on the list and wants to be contact me and I'll add you. The rain stopped today so I got in a short spin. :hurray: Ron
  10. http://www.nsnews.com/galleries/Lotus+land/3540215/story.html The North Shore News sent out a photographer for our meet but nothing appeared until now. Some good detail shots of cars. The rains are setting in, the number of good car days left is decreasing rapidly, enjoy them while you can. Ron

What! You didn't do an immediate high speed U turn and chase him down to get his name for the BC Sevens list!:smash: Sounds like you're close to home so you've put some serious miles on the car. Hope all went well. Ron
  12. Thanks for the video Greg. Yeah, the "Alfa7" was one of the cars I wanted to see. It's a complete Alfa drivetrain plus grill, rear lights and front lower wishbones. His build site on LocostUSA, is cfv23844, last updated July 23rd. Page 2 shows an interior shot before the transaxle was covered up. He really had to work at getting the Alfa stuff to fit in but he did a great job. It lives up to the name "Alfa7". Ron
  13. Nothing primitive about this tour. It's in one of the most expensive real estate areas in N.A. Quite a spectacular area actually. Just spent all afternoon making sure the driving directions were reasonablly accurate, don't want to loose any 7s along the way. Steve, glad to here the car is reasonably comfortable for long hauls. Ron
  14. How about a big old fashioned steamer trunk, one with nice varnished wood slats, held on by big leather straps with the license plate relocated on the back side:) Seriously, have a safe drive and we look forward to seeing your solution to adding a bit of luggage capacity. Ron
  15. Paul in Maple Ridge. Have you seen my comments about a get together in N. Van. on Aug. 14th? Look in the "Canada" forum. Or email me, ronpayne at telus dot com and I'll send you further information. We'd love to see that shiny red Birkin. Ron
