South Carolina Registration & Title??
nicholastanguma replied to william robert's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I don't think you'll have any problems. I *think* by federal law states are required to honor titles from every other state. The only caveat I could see is with vehicles registered under years that require emissions testing, but your 1962 year should exempt you from that. If I recall correctly even the Peoples' Republik of Kalifornia exempts 1974 and older vehicles from testing. -
Anyone wear a helmet just for casual drives? I've been seriously considering something to reduce wind and exhaust noise and avoid sunburn. I'm very fair-skinned, plus take a medication that's a serious photosensitizer, so the sunburn aspect is a very real concern for me. No, not a motorcycle helmet, which is too modern and bobbleheaded for a 7. Right now I'm leaning toward the pricey, handmade, low profile, vintage style offerings from Joe King in Brazil and TT&Co in Japan. Either 70's style full-face, or 60's style open-face w/ a 5-stud visor. These beautifully echo a 7's vintage aesthetic, so I don't think I'd look like a tool while buzzing around public streets. Experiences and/or opinions? So here we have a story about one of our fellow 7'ers driving through Times Square in Manhattan. All the pedestrians rubbernecking the car caused immovable gridlock. So did the police shouting at him for disturbing the peace. :cuss: Also, apparently many kamikaze taxis almost killed him. :ack: Obviously. Who around here drives their 7 in big city traffic? It seems to me a deathwish! Am I just being a total girl?

Things I learned about driving a 7
nicholastanguma replied to seafarer's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Old thread bump. Abused how, specifically? Totally curious about stories of custom vehicles in Times Square. Holy Moly. You drive your 7 in NYC? Balls of steel, yours, sir. That's dafter than riding a moto in NYC. At least on a moto you have some vertical presence. -
The traditional hot rod guys in Colorado run fenderless and often without front license plates, too. Everyone I've ever asked has told me as long as they're not driving like fools and are keeping the engine rpm down to minimize exhaust noise the fuzz never bother them even though both issues are technically illegal within the Denver Municipality. The State of Colorado itself has no fender laws, which is how the Jeep guys with enormously wide tires and comp-cut or tube fender bodies get away with it; although those offroad doods have said that on rare occasion an officer might pull them over for a warning, and in extremely rare cases issue a (revenue generating) fix-it citation. The Jeeps, however, are definitely required to comply with the front plate law, which is a state-wide regulation--the po-po will hit 'em for that. I'm just wondering if any of you Denver or Colorado-wide 7'ers affix a front plate. If not, do the rozzers bing you for it?

Just what the title says, lads. Anyone know the Stalker's overall length? Not wheelbase, but actual curb length from nose to tail.

Fellas, how much foot room is available in a Super Stalker's footwell? I wear a size 10.5 regular width boot (street boots, not construction or work boots); will I have to change out to sneakers or racing shoes in order not to hit the wrong pedals?

Seafoam is terrible for "fixing" ethanol gasoline; it's a cleaner, just like ethanol. Adding two cleaning agents together to "stablize phase separation" in ethanol petrol actually makes your fuel more detergent. Use Seafoam to clean your carbs and fuel lines, not keep your gasoline over the winter. Guys, here's the best website info I've ever found regarding the scientific process of ethanol's phase separation and actual empirical testing of all sorts of commercially available "ethanol gasoline fixes." These guys aren't selling any fuel stabilizing product, in case that helps you feel better about their motives. Unfortunately, they found there is (as of yet) no genuinely effective fuel stabilizer for preventing separation in ethanol petrol (gasoline stabilizer only works for non-eth mixtures). Just the nature of the beast. Thanks a lot, you politically overblown EPA. [/url]http://www.fuel-testers.com/is_gas_additive_safe_with_e10_list.html http://www.fueltestkit.com/remove_water_gas.html Your best bet is to find, if possible, a petrol station that sells non-ethanol fuel. These days that's a mighty difficult find, but here's a couple of resources that I've found tremendously useful. http://www.buyrealgas.com/ http://pure-gas.org/ Unfortunately, VP Fuels Street Legal 100 octane gasoline has plenty of ethanol added to it, so if you were thinking about finding refuge in street legal racing fuel, think again. Personally, I find if I cannot get my hands on "pure clear" gasoline, then cycling the ethanol every two weeks is the safest thing to do. Otherwise, drain your fuel tank and your carbs and your fuel lines. Hope this info helps everyone.

Wow, you chaps have been outstanding in answering my questions about the Brunton Stalker's possible (but apparently non-existent) footwell heat. Now I have a question about latching the hood. I've been looking at all sorts of draw latches in the Stalker photo gallery, and I see that my options are pretty diverse. However, I'm wondering if the bottom portion of the latches need to be mounted directly the frame, or if the aluminum side panels are thick and robust enough to handle such stress? What's the best mounting option?

Brunton Stalker Foot Heat
nicholastanguma replied to nicholastanguma's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Anyone else with Brunton Stalker foot heat experience? Anyways, thanks for the prompt replies, doods! Hearing the Stalker is foot-heat free is exactly what I wanted to hear. How often does that actually happen (when the President of the USA isn't talking, I mean. Okay, okay, put down your rocks, just a minor political joke. Relax.)? So, are there other se7ens that don't cook yer footsies? How about the Flyin' Miata Westfield, and the SmartSportsCars MK Indy? I know they both use the Miata as a donor vehicle, which means the exhaust exits on the driver's side, but I don't recall ever reading anywhere on this forum of someone complaining about FM Westie or MK Indy footwell heat. Asylum, thanks for the tip about LizardSkin. Even if my Stalker won't need the stuff, I'll probably have some other projects that will enjoy the benefits. Also, you say "we" build kit cars and hot rods? Well, who's "we?" Got a website linky I can check out?
