If you want to see a Caterham SV chassis with a V8 have a look here: http://sevener.fr/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=13712 It's the Caterham Levante RSV8 from RS performance. It's a French forum but pictures are easy to understand . -
Thanks, this is usually what I use but I have forget it at home. I used to have one when racing go kart. Mine is a bit different: http://www.itaka.fr/fr/equipement/minerves/minerve-itaka-enfant,EQ732.00C.html This will help but it's very usefull when you are hit from the back, a lot less under gearchange and braking.

My girlfirend sits next to me, she really enjoy it and I don't know how but she enjoy being on track with me. But she has a lot of neck aches the following day. (I'm not pretthy shure if aches is the good word) When she's get out of the car after a session, she has a big smile on here face. It means everything to me. It's twice better when you share your car with your girlfriend About head moves, I gets the difference is because I have the steering wheel so it helps to maintain and as I am driving I can anticipate when I'm going to brake, turn and so on. Maybe I have neck a bit more developte as I how practice go kart before. C U

have a look on RS Performance website: http://www.rsperformance.co.uk/ I've seen a while ago a new V8 from RS performance (500BHP version) for sale due to cancel order at 25 000£. It was on pistonheads.co.uk. There is a Caterham Levante in France, it's very very fast in strait line. But the car was often back to the dealer due to minor problems (lack of developpement). It seem to be better now. http://www.rsperformance.co.uk/levante_technicalspecification.htm 500+bhp and 300lbsft on 520Kg Caterham SV chassis... -

418lbs really? that's 189Kg means 100Kg (220lbs) more than a Duratec or a Rover. -
Here are some very small video: Westifeld Hayabusa vs Caterham Duratec vs Caterham Duratec: A friend spinning in his Exige Cup 260: My at S bleus and raccordement corners: Enjoy

A 2L Duratec engine or a 2.3L 2L more rev 2.3L more torque About same power about same price with 220/230BHP. 2L is lower than the 2.3L so easyier to fit. http://www.cosworthusa.com/store/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=20 http://www.minister-power.com/engines/index.htm The 2L from Honda S2000 is very heavy about 120/130Kg so 30/40 more than a Duratec or Rover. About price, it depends of what you need... Engine Engine + aux (starter + flywheel + clutch + alternator) Engine + aux + fixation Engine + aux + fixation + management (ECU) etc Engine + aux + fixation + management (ECU) + installation in the car -

There is several points to look at. If you go for a V8 (not based on 2 bike engines), you'll get more torque, more power and more weight. more torque and more power you'll need a stiffer chassis (obviously heavier), you'll also need bigger brakes (again heavier), then you'll need wider tire to get good traction and good brakes (once again heavier), more fuel consumption for the V8 so bigger fuel tank unless you want to refuel every 80 miles. and so on Let's say that your chassis, brakes etc are still fine for your heavy V8. The V8 will always be heavier and longer than a 4 cylinders. This mean than you'll have a different weight balance with the V8 (more weight and more in front). I've you ever driven a Caterham HPC with the 2L Opel/Vauxall and driven a 1600K, you'll fill the difference after 2 turns because of the 30 to 40Kg of weight difference and both are 4 cylinders. A Duratec with "only" 220 BHP is already increadibly fast if you have the write chassis, well balanced and the driving skill. Almost all of us should spend more $$$ on driving lesson than spending on more BHP (me ahead) but that's another thread. -
Back to Le Mans, tomorow, I'll be back at le Mans. Weather channel says rain. So Could be funny with 220 BHP even more cause I've never been on track under wet conditions. I'll send my video as soon as possible.

The Rover K is commun here in France and in UK, if you keep it full stock, is still fine for road use, on track with sticky tire, you'll have oil pressure problem on long right corner (even with harder tire in fact). So you'll need dry sump etc. If you need more power and still reliable, keep under 8000rpm and 200BHP, over you'll have to rebuild your engine often (15 000 to 20 000 miles for both track and road use) -

Here in europe we have a 2L 175bhp version, I would go for that one. I've already drive one (Caterham R300 Duratec EU spec, not UK spec) and it's very nice, very smooth, in fact a bit too smooth for me. You don't have this kind of kit at 4000RPM which is nice and gives more caracter to the car. -

Thanks, I've been driving Seven for 10 years now and I've done about 50 000miles mainly on road. 4 cylinders Pinto weights about 135Kg Zetec 115 kgs Zetec SE ( all alloy found in the later focus & fiesta & only 1.6 & 1.25) 85 kgs X Flow is about 110/115Kg Duratec 2000cc 85 kgs Vauxhall XE 120 kgs Rover 1600k series with flywheel, injection gubbins, alternator, coilpack, leads and oil filter is a touch over the 82kg mark -

I’ll give you what I drove, what I felt which each car. I had a Martin Seven, French Seven replica. The car had the old cast iron 2L Pinto with single Weber carburettor. Giving about 100bhp. The car was a bit heavy for a Seven with about 700Kg. The engine was very linear, torque at low rev, not that much power high the rev. The engine was full stock which mean no race so no kick for power, very smooth power curve. As it was Cast iron engine, it was heavy on the front and I was clearly able to feel it in the steering wheel. Then I sold it and bought a Caterham 1700BDR. I was lighter 620/630Kg, had a BDR Cosworth engine. Same cast iron bottom as a Xflow but revised internal components and the upper part of the engine was alloy with twin cam. That was giving about 170bhp. The engine was lighter and the car was a lot agile and my old Martin was like a truck compare to the Caterham BDR. Less torque that the previous 2L pinto, but the car was lighter so still fine. The engine didn’t had a smooth power curve. It was absolutely incredible sound like an Harley Davidson between 1000 and 3000RPM, then kind of transition between 3000 and 4000/4200 RPM. Then from 4200 up to 6500, it was kicking your ass and sound like and old F1 car. Giving you incredible feeling and rising up your arm’s hairs. Here is the BDR engine history: http://7faq.com/contribute/owbase/ow.asp?Cosworth+BDR+-+it's+history+and+development To me it was the master piece, the best engine you would ever fit in a Seven. But I wanted to go on track and the BDR engine is very expensive in case of damage. I then bought a Caterham C400 with the 2L Duratec engine tune to 220bhp. That full alloy engine, last generation, lot’s of torque. The chassis is also last generation. As a result there is nothing to compare to neither the BDR and the Martin. The chassis is very sharp and agile, the car is so easy that you feel very confident. First corner you think bloody hell I fast, and the car is going in the turn very easily and you think I can go at least 10mph quicker and so on. The drawback is very simple to drive far to fast on road but you fill it only when you are coming back to an other car. And that’s dangerous for you and others. What about the engine, it has to at low rev and lot’s of bhp when revving making it very nice when cruising and enjoyable on far road or track. It sounds fairly nice (not as nice as the BDR but…) and it’s smooth, not very smooth, because when going over 4000rpm it’s kicking a bit until 6000rpm then between 6000 and 8200 rpm it’s becoming scary, thanks to the more aggressive cam. Here is my opinion according to my specifications: Light engine (between 80 and 90Kg) to have a light, agile, sharp directions. No 6 cylinder or 8 cylinders (too heavy) except those from RS Performance Normally aspired: take less space in the engine bay. No turbo, due to over heat problem, require exchanger etc No compressor for the same reasons. Every body is deferent end has a different feeling, different requirement. You have to make your choice, but it helps if you can try friends car. If you come to France then send me a MP and we will try to go for a blat. PS:sorry for my poor English C U Onken -
Hi all, Let’s create a new thread as I’m going to upgrade my dash, maybe some of you will find it interesting and will do the same upgrade. I’ve decided to swap my Stack to Race Technology products. The aim is simple, get a data logger, dash and overlay data and video. Stack have everything to do it but it was far to expensive for me. So far I haven’t order anything, I’ll rent to the French dealer for my next track day on Friday. I may buy the DL1 MK3 Pro + Dash 4 or DL1 MK3 + Dash 2. Here is the DL1 MK3: http://www.race-technology.com/dl1_mk3_8_31019.html Here is the Dash4: http://www.race-technology.com/dash4_pro_8_31027.html Here is the Dash2: http://www.race-technology.com/dash2_8_940.html Dash 2 is road legal, Dash 4 is not but Dash 2 has three parameters configurable by user on each pages (5 pages) Dash 4 is fully customisable for every single variable on each pages (5 pages). Both have configurable alarms (Low fuel pressure, low oil pressure, high oil temp, high water temp, etc…) The DL1 MK3 can be connected to the ECU (depending of our ECU) to get all values from it, witch mean no need to replace all sensors. Does any of you are interested to order with my to get better discount? Onken

Yes I do have the race rear brake: http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_product=2976 The problem is that you won't have hand brake with the race caliper... The main advantage is that you'll get vented disk witch is very usefull is you have lot's of BHP and you are able to brake very hard and late and hot track days. if brake fluid is not strong enough even the Motul RBF600 then go for it other wise... Try to use Carbone lorraine brake pads at the front (big brake), brake reducing valve for rear brake, and standard pads at the back, with the Motul RBF600, if should be be fine.

In fact it's a Caterham C400 Eurocup from UK. So it has a 2L Ford Duratec engine with 220BHP. 6 speed sequential box from Quaife. the car is full stock. exactly Caterham's spec to run the C400 chalenge. I'll update my presentation later on. :seeya:

Hi, A couple of weeks ago I've been to Magny Cours for Classic Days 2011. It was funny but others were not that fast... My girlfriend has filmed the next one form outside: Nice one

Thanks, Orange was a bit to much for me, and I had de new schuttle, 4 new wings (black), when I saw the Candy red I felt in love. The history of the hole in the nose cone come from Racing. the C400 challenge went to Portugal for a race and it was far too warn. Everybody had to add an oil cooler as an emergency solution with a hole in the nose cone.
