Bellhousing help

Gearbox

Recommended Posts

Hi All;

I was wondering if anyone can identify a bell housing I picked up on eBay for a Seven project. I think it is from a Cortina Mk2 but not sure. The markings are 3014e with 7505A and about 6.5" deep. Problem I'm trying to figure out is what slave cylinder this bell uses. The hole measures 1.35"d and the standard slave I have (PAS 43) that I use for my Elans measures 1.1"d. This slave is supposed to be standard for Anglia, Cortina Mk1 and 2, and Elan bells. Any 105e Gurus out there? Thanks Allan

Looks just like the BH that came with my motor. Same numbers except mine has an "11" where yours has a "24". I got another BH that was cable actuated so I am not using this one. It has a Gerling 7/8 cylinder on it with a "CC9" under the Gerling name. I was told the trans and BH came from a 70's Mustang/Pinto

I wish it came from a Mustang or Pinto, then I could get the parts, but the bolt patterns are completely different for the Mustang or Pinto 3 or 4 speeds used at that time. Closest ID was a Cortina Mk2 with the 3014e marking, but no other info. What is the slave housing diameter on yours? Have a Pic? Thanks Allan PS what car did it come out of?

Most early UK Ford gearboxes had integral bellhousings anyway but the guides on the Burton Power website may help ID it and find something to fit - http://www.burtonpower.com/tuning-guides.html

Burton also sell Ford bellhousings so worth a browse as you may ID something similar to yours.

The usual upgrade though would be a Type 9 box with alloy bellhousing, yours looks to be cast. I believe most also had the starter and clutch on the opposite sides to yours.

The slave measures 1.385" but there is a lot of corrosion so it probably is 1 3/8". I can try to post pics tomorrow but Mr Computer I am not. My tranny is a British made type 2 from a Pinto. It looks just like the tranny on page 114 of Burtons 2014 catalog. I would check out a 1970's Mustang slave or 2300cc Pinto, as I think all Xflow Pintos were cable clutches. Russ
