Road Ready
Do you drive the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC? It's closed now for tunnel maintenance but I'll be one of the first on it when it opens in (perhaps) April. I'd love to know of any of y'all will be up there around then. My favorite section runs from Weaverville north, by Mt. Mitchell to Little Switzerland and beyond.
scannon
I've not driven it or the Tail of the Dragon. I am thinking about attending the Mitty at Road Atlanta the weekend of April 21st and if I do I plan to drive both of the above. I will most likely be driving my V8 Miata as there is a gathering of V8 Miatas at the race.
MudHut
I live very close to the Parkway near Botetourt, Va and Floyd, Va. I am sad to say that this is the roughest chunk of parkway I've ever encountered. Not at all enjoyable to drive with the potholes and chucks of pavement missing. Hoping is is better kept elsewhere. Contrary to the post, I am a supporter of the parkway, it is beautiful, just not in my Seven. Jay
Klasik-69
The area is just gorgeous and very suited to a Seven. I've driven the Tail of the Dragon quite a few times in my Corvette. I've raced my Seven at the SCCA Chasing The Dragon hill climb race which takes place at the Joyce Kilmer Forest. The thing to be careful about are the wet/dry areas of asphalt due to the sunny and shady areas. Also you need to watch out for the bikes that congregate in this area by the hundreds throughout the year. The Harley riders are safe and careful but the crotch rocket guys like to set speed records, and they crash regularly. The ride from Andrews to Robbinsville is very nice too then jump over to the Tail of the Dragon towards Tennessee. Or take the Blue Ridge Parkway towards Boone. There are nice little mom & pop restaurants along the way.
sevenup
Been on the Dragon with my V6/V8 mgb gt several times and it is a great experience...worst situation you can be in there is to be an average or below average driver in the middle of a twelve car pack of skilled drivers....that is where sh*t happens...I am in Ohio but spend a lot of time in the Waynesville, NC area, that area of the blue ridge is in excellent shape, at least the area from route 276 east up to Boone area...
