ford type 9 (T9) transmission

I have a ford t9 recently rebuilt. Has about 200 miles on it. It was in my Merkur Xr4ti. Removed it as I am going to be installing a V8 and T5 transmission.

 

5 speed common caterham box.

Robert, is this the uprated T9, does it have the small 3 bolt cover that is under the input shaft?

Does it have the long or short input shaft?

 

I think Caterhams use a long and Birkins use the short shaft.

The input shaft is about 7 3/8 inches long.

 

It also looks as though there is a 3 bolt cover under the input shaft.

For reference, the Caterham input shaft is right at 8" from the front of the gear case and has the 19 tooth spline on it. This sounds like the medium length shaft.

True Merkurs have a 23 spline input shaft. You could easily swap yours over to make this work.
