Ted E. BAyer
About a year ago, I was sitting in my Caterham behind a car at a light... heard a noise and looked in my tiny little mirror on the dash. I saw a landscaping truck with trailer with 4 people sitting in front, eyes wide and truck was in in full all 4 tire lockup skidding right for me. By the time I processed it... there was nothing to do but sit and brace myself. They stopped a few feet from my bumper. I had always been worried about getting hit in my light little car but I realized I needed to make a better mirror. I wanted to see more of what was happening around me so I could react instead of sit and watch a re-run of I love Lucy at the pie factory at the end of my life. LOL I went through many iterations and design changes, played with angles and tested them (in the way only a retired guy can do) and finally came up with a great mirror for Sevens (and smaller cockpit race cars). The Safeview7 mirror (Patent Pending) gives you more visibility to : the front by moving mirror to the right side of the cockpit, to the back including behind your head, and it works with the side mirror to allow tracking a passing car all the way up to where it is in your peripheral vision. This allows you greatly improved situational awareness, more time to react in an emergency and the ability to judge closing speeds and distances of the traffic around you. There is nothing like driving a Seven (I am on my 6th one...) but the Safeview7 does enhance that experience and give you a lot safer feeling than you get from a small dash or center of windshield mirror. Thanks for considering one of these for your car!
