Drakman Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 Hi Guys and Girls, I am looking for a set of front M1 spec coilovers and a rear ARB for a 2014 metric SV wide suspension Caterham. The Caterham reference number for the coilovers is 74501AW. Thanks Dave

Drakman Posted December 21, 2022 Author Posted December 21, 2022 Hi MV8, Thank you for the links. I have seen those on the Caterham page, the rear ARB doesn't seem to be available in a kit for a SV metric chassis. My car has a rear exit exhaust, it also has the mounts for a rear ARB but the bar would have to be mounted above the arm because the exhaust passes to close under for the ARB to fit as an underslung bar. Has anyone had any experience with this?
MV8 Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 No personal experience with this. I guess the arm of the arb is what fouls the exhaust. One could take the normal arb, shorten the arms a couple holes so they can clear the outer cv boot, then make a new drop link bracket or swap sides maybe, putting the drop link bracket connection at the top instead of the bottom of the ears. This would make the bar arms about level at ride height to clear the exhaust.
Drakman Posted December 21, 2022 Author Posted December 21, 2022 Actually it is the bar of the ARB that is the problem, the bar mounts in brackets that i assume bolt to the trailing arm from underneath. With a side exit exhaust there is no issue but the rear exit exhaust runs directly where the underslung ARB mounts. I think if i had a an ARB to try i could fit it on top of the trailing arm in the same mounting holes. My car came with the holes in the trailing arms and the bracket for the drop links fitted, i was thinking the rear exit exhaust necessitated the removal of the ARB.
MV8 Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 The bar rotates in saddles above the lower chassis rails.
Drakman Posted December 22, 2022 Author Posted December 22, 2022 Hi MV8, Thank you very much for the diagram, that clears up a lot. I was thinking the ARB mounted from underneath. So it's true, a picture is worth a thousand words.
