MV8 Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 5# density foam is expensive and not commonly found locally. Joann's lists a "high density" airtex foam which is slightly higher density (1.6#) than standard furniture foam, but it is not dense enough at two inches of thickness. Automotive foams are much denser than furniture foam. You could cut a yoga mat to sit against the base with the airtex on top and it should be ok. A better option is to use a thick/heavy duty yoga mat base with a thinner airtex foam. These options make your seat like a variable rate spring. The "yoga" foam is also used for sleeping bag pads and stadium cushions but the most cost effective source is a yoga mat. https://www.joann.com/p/airtex-2in-x-24in-high-density-foam-sheet/2180289.html
Donnie Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 I found the 2" Joanne's fine for both back and seats.
