Mandurath
There are a few companies that specialize in the 215. Which is where i was planning on getting most of my parts from is below. Engines with t5 trannies are in the $450 range. These guys responded fast to questions. Yeah, S2000's are probably the best, and can make insane power if thats where you want to go. And still stay light. www.aluminumv8.com When you say SVO, you mean the Mustang? Thats what mine is from. Full engines for those run in the 350 range. I am currently looking at a spare from a merkur including a t9 for 325 pretty much complete.
slngsht
aluminumv8 is where i bought my rope kit when the main seal was leaking. I also found them very helpful. BTW, late model Range Rover 4.6L is the same block as the 215, with a little more power.
Mandurath
I kinda thought the older engine added some age to the car coming from the same time period as the old 7's. (and they were cheaper)
slngsht
I kinda thought the older engine added some age to the car coming from the same time period as the old 7's. (and they were cheaper) well, in stock form, yes it's cheaper. But in stock form, my Rotus didn't feel any faster than my stock C5 (although I never did any measurements - it just didn't really scare you when you hammered it). I talked to those guys about what it took to get 300+ hp out of that engine, and at that point, it wasn't cheap anymore. So, even with the extra 130 lbs, I thought it was more reliable to go with a stock LS1 and have a long lasting, reliable engine. As it turns out, then I decided 350 hp wasn't enough either
Mandurath
hehehe do I see an LS7 in your future?
slngsht
LS7 is out of my price range. I can definitely do a stroked normally aspirated LS2 at about 550 HP, gobs more torque, with no weight penalty though  Short blocks run about $3K. slngsht
not bad... 160lbs for the engine. I wonder if that includes any accessories like alternator, or exhaust manifold / header.

BusaLoco
Are we suggesting that we create a seperate Se7eN catagory for "Lumberjack Sports"? Why don't we open it right up and create a few sub forums for Se7eN "Tractor Pulling" and Se7eN "Swamp Buggie Racing"?  Alas, I fear that uncle Colin would not approve. slngsht
 Speaking of "Real V8's", last night I ran into this... LS2 block, stroked, AFR 205 heads (I'm running these heads now), cam, headers... That's 525 RWHP, 500 ft.lbs, and bolts right in... that's another 140 hp more, with 0 extra pounds. probably about a $4K investment for me... heh... "investment". I doubt Gail would consider it an "investment" http://www.jgtuning.com/results/dyno.jpg
